I met Lady Cougars and her family. ?Really nice people! You couldn't find a better family.

I met wgman and won an all in at Texas Hold'em ?(You can't bluff a deaf man) ?He is a really nice and very funny guy. ?I really enjoyed talking with him.

I met Daddy Dice. ?Believe me folks, you wouldn't believe how nice this guy really is and how much fun it is to talk with him. ?I will ask all OFC members to look him up and meet the real person behind the "persona". ?His DD is an absolute sweetheart and a very good player. JoeA, add her to your list, trust me.

Johnnies,
Thanks for the good words. It was great talking with you today. :) If you've looked at the bracket recently, we might be on a collision course with you guys tomorrow. We have to win our first game at 9:30, but if we do we could end up playing you guys if you continue to win.

Good luck to everyone still in it at GAPSS!!

HilliardDad, as you know, things like that are said just about every year, and unfortunately, either out of a desire for consistency, a lack of other viable options, or simply because it's nice to play in a Nationals close to home, many teams continue to go back to sanctioning bodies that do not put much, if any, emphasis on the on-field experience of the players. More focus is on the financial impact of the event, personal favors and preferences of the tournament and organization officials, and maintaining the inadequate status quo. I haven't been in Ohio softball for a few years, but having lived and been involved in softball in five states in the past four years, I have realized that this is a problem in the Midwest, the Great Plaines, and in the Southeast, and it won't change until coaches make difficult decisions and let their money show their displeasure.

Let me tell a couple of things about GAPSS!

Met even more OFC'ers today: Everyone of them were great. I really enjoyed talking to everyone the last two days. :) Johnnies, I wish we could've played you guys. Looked like a great bunch of girls. We played some great competition today. 2 ITB's and a heartbreaking one run loss to send us home. We finished 4th.

Great tournament, especially the grounds crews. I was talking to a couple of the guys at the middle school yesterday, you know who you are, and I said "are you guys here all day?" They said we sure are. Every field had two or three guys that would rake and line the fields between every game. The fields were beautiful. Those guys worked their hind ends off from 6 am to 11 am to get them not only ready, but top shape. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

BTW, no entry or parking fees.

Games started Saturday at 11:00, and yes we had 55 minute time limits on Saturday, but that made it so all Sunday games ran full times and on time.

We will definitely be back next year!!

Overall, this was a first class tournament :)

Oh yeah, one more thing. I have it on good authority that Johnnies' wife could drive from Columbus to Canton (normally about 2 hours) in about 60 minutes. ;D Just sayin...

Welp, even though I did not get to meet Johnnies or any of the other OFC members, since I was busy on the other side of the fence with all my wonderful players. I did get a chance to see and put a face on the members I see on here daily. It is a pleasure to see all come together at a splendid trny to watch their DD play the sport we all know as "Fastpitch Softball".

I only got to meet Lady Cougars and her family at GAPSS. Johnnies is correct, nice people. I didn't get to talk much because I was needed on third to get my kids thrown out. Did meet some nice people. We played the CO Stampede for the first time. Super nice coaching staff. MOV Flamin Fury, Buckeye Heat, and the rest were all nice people as well, and yes, even the Laser's Silver were alright ;) I can't believe I just said that. :-? GAPPS field crews were very good, diamonds raked and lined WITH boxes every game.

Still haven't met the elusive statman, and I'm not even sure katjoebenenemomom even exists. Can someone verify?

My husband spotted the elusive Statman on Sunday with the help of a vague description that I had from OFC posts. He said "are you THE Statman Ray"? To which the response was "yes I am".

I have met Katbenjoemom once, so yes she does exist. lol, I thought GAPPS did a heck of a job getting the fields ready since it just kept raining, NO Parking Fees and NO admission Fees, I thought a Tourney could not be ran without gouging all the parents ;)

Oh 1.00 bottle water was sold at the concession, GAPPS and Beavercreek have been the best parent friendly venues for tourneys I have been to.

This was our 3rd time at GAPSS and even though I am proud of the tournaments we run, this is without a doubt the best run tournament we play in every year. Great job to Mike and Mike and the staff for all their hard work.

Got to meet Daddy Dice and wgman21 and even played against their team. Lost a tough 6-5 game with 2 innings of ITB. Great game on both sides.

Thanks Ringer. I was glad we got a chance to meet and hopefully we'll have a chance to chat some more soon! ?:)

I was glad to meet Statman at Whitehall ?:), but I've not met Katjoebenmom either. I think I might have gotten a Dice glimpse at OHS, but don't know if wgman and I crossed paths.
I met Hilliarddad years ago and saw him again this spring. I missed an opportunity to meet The Bear in April, but I hope I will have another chance very soon!

OFCERS,

Thanks to all the teams who hung in there with us! We have fine leadership in Mike Wilson, who, this being his first year, was faced with many, many, many tough decisions. The job he did was unbelievable.

All of our fields are a nice shade of brown now with all the diamond dry that was used. It is our stance as a board to do WHATEVER is necessary to get the teams playing. Some I am sure won't agree with me, but we couldn't really start working the fields until 4pm Friday with no sun that day at all. The work my crews did was beyond what they were asked to do. None complained, just were focused on getting the teams playing.

Thanks again for all who attended and were patient. We hope we put on a good tournament for you.
