Weather is dominating yet another weekend, Wondering how many games we may get to play this weekend. This will be another weekend I think 4 in a row now that we have lost at least 2 games.
When will the weather start cooperating,

How many games have you lost so far this year. or even t-ments cancelled

So far this year...

Zero from the January to March indoor season! ?:) (Though I rememeber one year some games were cancelled because the roads were too bad to get there.)

High school/spring season: 5 games cancelled (worked some games in miserable wet or cold conditions).

Summer leagues: Lost 3 in the league where I play and 4 where I umpire (all the league games are leagues where they make up cancelled games, so should get those in).

Tournament/travel games: 6 games cancelled (got lucky when most of the games I was assigned were before the rain hit or were made-up the next day. And, I haven't worked tournies every weekend this year).

That means (discounting indoor) I've lost 18 games due to weather and umpired or played 60, or approximately 25% of my scheduled games. That's higher than normal- it usually runs at about 10-15% most years. (Of course, when you are involved in tournaments, with maybe 5 games in one day, losing one day really skews the average, versus leagues or high school where it's pretty much one game per day.)

But the real killer for me is that "she who commands the household" decided this week was when we would take our usual summer vacation. I'll be out of town during the next two weekends, possibly two of the biggest tournament weekends of the summer. Along with league games, that means that I had to turn down offers to work about 20 games during the next ten day period. Bummer. I guess that's the price you pay for being on a ballfield just about every other day of the summer.

Uncle Stan's started their games early to get as many games as possible expecting rain. Good Job to get the games moving. ;D ;D

Rained out of two today at the Independence Classic near Toledo. Monsoon rains in the area may make the fields unplayable tomorrow too.

We've had one complete tournament cancelled (refunded the entry fee, about a 1/3 of the entry cost) and this weekend we only played 1/2 a game. National tournaments coming up...we need good weather so the teams can play.

I first thought that I was cursed since taking over the TD position for the LGSA this season. We have had the rain (3 out of 4 tournament weekends) foul up our scheduling. I'm thinking of changing my work schedule to Friday - Monday and hosting tournaments Tuesday - Thursday. Lucky for me we have a great group of Board Memebers who are relentless in their efforts in getting our fields ready for play. Amazingly we have only had to cancel (8) games in the 4 tournaments.

Rain delay and a couple of lightning delays today at Rotary Park in Beavercreek. Got all 3 games in though! Hopefully good weather tomorrow! The TD and crew did a nice job with the fields.

Spent the day at the beach in North Carolina. Hotter than heck down here (low 90's with high humidity) and they are in a drought- little rain for weeks!

All in all I'd rather be calling some games back in Ohio (and taking a vacation once the season is over). ?:)

We were starting a international tie breaker in the semi finals in Columbus when the second wash out of the day came. After looking back at runs in pool play we got third ?:-/. One pool play game rain out Sat. also. Try again next weekend!

We have actually been quite fortunate with the weather for the tournaments we have attended this year. The only tournament we did not finish was this past weekend at Uncle Stan's (Cleveland). We got all the pool games in on Saturday (in between some rain and 1 lightning delay) and all the bracket games on Sunday with the exception of the championship game, which unfortuantely had to be cancelled due to rain and more rain coming. The TD was doing a nice job of trying to move games ahead so as to not run into this situation, but he was unsuccessful this time.

SBmomma...don't jinx it!!! let's just have a sunny forecast for NSA states and it will happen

jimjen--we wanted to play you guys again! good luck int he future, your team's a good one! i was so mad about the game before us, it was a 16u game that was in ITB for three innings, but it felt longer because there were mound conferences, call issues and gripes on both sides...i could see the cell coming and I wanted to blurt out "come on, already!" but i kept it to myself...
