The answer to your question will be as varied as it would be if asked across the nation for the exact same reasons. Like each area of the country, each area of our state has different sanctioning bodies that have more influence/stronger competition in a particular area. In NE Ohio, USSSA is pretty much low tier competition whereas SW it's pretty solid with stiff competition. Cross the PA state line and you'll find USSSA is going strong as well. PGF was going strong in NEO and had the best competition until the State Director quit caring and now it's pretty much non-existent. FASA is making a big push now and the competition seems to be decent in our area. With all of that said, the stiffest competition in our area day-in and day-out seems to be USA. It has been since PGF went bye-bye. Thus, USA is mostly what my team plays with an occasional FASA or USSSA event thrown in for fun depending on the competition. As DanMaz said, I'll look at the team lists of the tourneys first to determine whether or not we want to play them.
