For the 2009 season the Ohio Wave Organization will offer the following tournaments just as we have for the past 7 years.

We really appreciate the support that we have recieved over the years and we will continue to work very hard to make our tournament both challenging and exciting. We have listened to what teams have been saying about their tournament experiences over the past few years and we have responded. Our format for our May Tune-Up tournament will now be a 6 game guarantee with 1 hour 40 minute time limits. This should allow for full games for everyone. Two ASA umpires for every game.

Our June tournaments will be a 5 game guarantee with 3 pool play games and then seeding into a Gold and Silver bracket and 1 hour 40 minute game times. This should allow for full games for everyone. 2 ASA umpires for every game.

The main complex that we use Stebbins Field has undergone some major upgrades this off season. Not only is it one of the best softball complexes in the state but now they added a huge concession / restroom facility right in the middle of the complex that will be second to none. The concession stand will have a full service resturant style grill. It is really going to be something else. The best news is...no more porta johns!!! I have also been told by the folks who run the Stebbins Field complex that they will be adding some additional fields there in the coming years. With the help of the people who run the Stebbins Field Complex we have never had to cancel a tournament. These fields are made to play softball on and we are happy to be hosting our tournaments there.

Information and registration forms for these events can all be found on our website www.ohiowave.com

cgs, we would be happy to have you guys here. The complex is an excellent one and the addition of that new concession / restroom building will really top it off.

Thanks for the heads up.

The Miami Valley Xpress would love to play in the Treaty. And most likely the Classic. We have always enjoyed the tourney....even with the rain last year!!! Well run.

UPDATED THE TOURNAMENT INFORMATION

The June tournament has been divided into two seperate dates to better serve the teams at the Stebbins Field Complex. Both of these events will now award PAID BERTHS to the Champion in each age group. Space is limited so please be sure to register early to ensure your spot in these events.

Rich,

Did you mean to post the dates for each age group? I checked on the Wave web site and the changes haven't been made there. I'll ask you about this Friday if you don't have an opportunity to post before then. Thx.

cgs,

The dates you see posted here are correct. We'll get the Wave website updated today. We had a board meeting just last night and finalized our dates and format. We decided to split the tournament up into two seperate weekends next year. We are always tweaking the format to offer greater value for the teams and organizations that travel to Greenville. We liked the longer game times that we had in our fall tournament and would like to continue with that. However, we simply can not offer full games and accomodate 60+ teams in one weekend, hence the split. Also, you will notice that we are offering a PAID berth to the ASA Eastern Nationals. You can not pass this tournament up if you plan on playing in the ASA Easterns.

So, a 14U team could get an ASA Eastern berth (not necessarily paid) either at the Treaty tournament or at the Rip-It tourney?

cgs, that is correct. We have decided to go ASA with all of our tournaments and they will all be Eastern National Qualifiers for both the "A" and "B" divisions.

The May tournament is a little different then the June tournament formats because that event will be a 6 game guarantee pool format. More of a tune-up event,

The June tournaments will be 3 pool play games and then elimination play.

Both tournaments will offer 1 hour 40 minute time limits and two ASA licensed umpires per game for all games.

I hope that this helps.

cgs, I have updated our website and coaches can now download the registration form for each of the upcoming tournaments.

Here is the link to that page: http://www.leaguelineup.com/tournaments.asp?cmenuid=12&url=ohiowave&sid=324678189

Also, teams should note that because of the full game format we are limited to how many teams we can host per tournament. In the past our June event would host 55 to 60 teams but now we are targeting 24 teams per weekend. Even though this will cost us some teams we look to offer a better experience for the teams that attend. The schedule will be more normal and we will not be as spread out. For us the days of the huge one weekend events are over.

We will seperate the tournaments into their own threads and then keep track of the teams attending that way. This thread was only intended to let people know what we had scheduled for the 2009 season.
