It will be an interesting run to the top in the OCC.
I want to focus on the Ohio and Central for a moment.
Is Pick North for real, as is Pick Central? Can they give
Grove City and Gahanna a run or will it be a two horse race?

I like the Central Division, as there is much more balance and parity as
my runaway choice is still my choice but will it could be interesting.

Darby is still the team to beat; they have two of the best players in the
district and one of the top pitchers; watch out for Central Crossing -
They have a pitcher that will keep them in any game, and 3 or 4 batters that
can provide the instant offense to win a close game. CC could very well win this
division.
Thomas Worthington will regroup, and Westland has a pitcher that could silence any
lineup (Grove City last year)
Hilliard Davidson will always have to be in any mix, as well as Coffman.
I have to go see Upper Arlington, as I have heard that things are really coming
together there. They have the best battery in the OCC, will they have the sticks and defense to contend?

Oldtimer,

I agree, the OCC Ohio and Central are by far the 2 best divisions this year in Central Ohio. Both are stacked with quality pitchers, hitters, catchers, fielders, baserunners and coaches. It is going to be interesting, as far as who gets hot at the end of the year and makes a run to Districts and Regionals. Like I've said all along, there are IMHO 5 teams at the top and another 6-8 teams that may be just a player or two away, and who knows maybe that certain player on that certain team will step up and take her team to that top level. I know if we had "you know who" we would be loaded right now...lol.

The score doesn't lie as I might of been a bit premature last season, but this year is no fluke and I see no darkhorse but the real deal in Central Crossing. They have at least 6 top tier travel players to go along with a nice host of others. Credit where credit is due and true homage to the players and coaching staff for bringing this team along nicely. There is no reason not to believe, especially after yesterdays signature win, that they are the team to beat in the OCC Central, and have the balanced attack to compete with Teays Valley and Grove City. With that said, I did not say they will win it all at districts, but they have leap frogged many teams to get into postition. The Central Crossing young phenom pitcher, along with fellow OCC members Westerville North and Olentangy who by the way feature very good young freshman pitchers) will ensure balance for the long haul. Add the freshman from Upper Arlington (would be a starter or co-number one at 80-90% of high schools and now has given the Golden Bears a luxuary and something that may pay high dividends down the road) the future looks very competitive for years to come.

This is not a bad thing - it is very good for central ohio softball. My hope is that the two Pickerington teams are for real; Gahanna keeps the momentum flowing; and we see 1 thru 6 as contenders in each conference - and let us have a battle royal so come tournament time, the Central District representative at the final four will be primed to play.

Oldtimer,

Although the talent is in place, I stand by my "Lou Holtz" stance, were neither mature enough or strong enough to play at a high level over the course of the season.

Does the freshman pitcher for CC play travel? If so - for who?

I would guess if she's a phenom, then she's probably a travel ball player :). Been hearing good things about the Dragons. They're not well known, even though the organization was started by Ron Marstiller, but they are starting to come along as an organization and are doing very well at the travel level.

That was my guess as well, so figured I would ask. Have heard good things about her.

Hopefully Central Ohio doesn't get as much rain as they are calling for the next couple of days :(

Central Crossing (7-2)...2 0 0 0 0 0 0...2 2 1
Upper Arlington (7-0)...0 0 0 0 1 1 1...3 5 4

Another very exciting game between UA and CC. Both freshman pitchers (Mandy Aberuzee UA and Savanna Dorsey CC) pitched very solid games. Other then the UA center fielder making a spectacular diving catch on a sinking liner in the gap, both teams didn't play defense like I know they both can. Errors for UA and a lack of communication on several plays by CC produced most of the runs this game. I'm looking forward to the rematch as both teams have 5 or 6 top knotch players. The UA 3 hitter (Meagan Strang?) hit a walk off shot to the CF fence for the game winning RBI.

Congrats to Upper Arlington on still being undefeated at 10-0!!!

Congrats to Grove City on a very solid win vs Greenville 2-0...7 hits against a pitcher that threw 6 no hitters already this year is always impressive!!!

Congrats to my friends over at Pick North...starting the season 13-1 is one of the most impressive feats in the OCC so far!!!

Congrats to Hilliard Darby on a solid win over Saint Marys 2-1. I saw ST. M's pitcher (Thornsberry) up at Ashland in the 2007 state tourney when she was a soph...and knew she was a special player. Also playing Elyria and New Palistine, Ind on the same weekend...your strengh of schedule takes a back seat to no one!!!

Also, proud of our Central Crossing Comets who have started out the season with a 10-2 record...keep up the hard work!!!
