Nicest teams

We have a couple of posts going on right now about negative fans or coaches so how about the flip-side? Has anyone had an experience with an opposing team, player or coach where they were so nice or showed such good sportsmanship that they were memorable? I think it would be nice to have some positivity to remind us all why we love this sport so much. :)

The 11u Ice is a great team:)(even though they beat us every time). In Strasburg while we were playing another team and they were waiting to play the next one, the girls were along the fence talking to the coaches and wishing our the team good luck. A GREAT BUNCH OF YOUNG LADYS!!!!!!! The coaches are nice as well:rolleyes:

I gotta agree with the Doom 95. We played them in the spring and I was chatting with the coaches and some of the parents, and I really enjoyed it.

The Ohio Ambush. Every tournament we have been in together, the have come up and wished us good luck and to see how we are doing. In a game in which we played them, one of our girls got a little shook up and one of their coaches came over to the bench to see if she was alright.

We've been lucky enough to play some really competitive teams with classy young ladies and coaches. Up in Toledo we played a great game against the North Coast Spirit (Blue)...great players and coaches. A few others locally I enjoy meeting up with are the H.H. Roadwarriors, the Valley Storm, and the Diamond Dominators...the girls on these teams are great young ladies (and the coaches are pretty nice too...lol). Truly, I can only think of a couple of teams where the coaches were just unfriendly or down-right jerks.

After a good ol'fashioned butt whipping our team got a great motivational speech from the coach of the 12u Lady Irish about taking lumps and what is possible 1 year later. He didnt need to do it but he felt the need to and it was appreciated.

Coach from 18U Central Ohio Lady Rebels is one coach who has left a lasting impression with me. Very, very nice man. Have seen him on the field for a couple of years now and he is always so positive with his players. Talked with a few of his parents one time while watching a game, and they had nothing but nice things to say about him.

They are a class act! Must have something to do with the coaches and parents!! See you at the Nailbiter and best of luck this week!!

I think nicer teams are not the exception to the rule, they are the standard. We typically hear about the "other" types of teams. It can make for better headlines. Kind of like the evening news. Very rarely, do we hear about positive or uplifting stories in the news. Good post.

The Ohio Classics 10u are a great group. Nice kids, parents, and coaches. We had a friendly last weekend and then had some kids from both teams go to Pickerington to watch some games at the Classics tourney. By the time lunch was over you would have thought the kids were on the same team.

I agree. Most teams are great. We have only seen a handful of poor sports, when we are winning or losing. Unfortunately it is the bad ones that leave an impression and it make it into the conversation on OFC. The 10U coaches, parents, and players that we have seen are exceptional, aside from a few bad apples.

I agree that by and large most teams are pretty great. However, I must say my two favorites this year are the 12U Lazers Blue and the SGS Magic Blue (hmmmm maybe it is something about the color blue). They are both full of hard-working girls and very positive coaches.

We played Lancaster last weekend in the U16 age group......not sure of the coaches names but the U13 Stingray team was there and we played them and won a close competitive game......in getting ready to play our next game the Stingrays team surprised us by giving a shoutout of go Vipers together....we really thought that was classy and totally out of the blue for us......our girls all thought it was cool and talked it up quite a bit. Nice team and trust me when those young ladies are 16 eligible they will be a real force to be dealt with....classy team through and through!
Also always nice to run into Chad and the Vikings Elite U15 team...we struck up a lasting friendship with them last year and our girls and their girls even hang near each others dugouts when playing to cheer each other on.....really kind of cool to watch it all develop.
