Why,when looking at tourney threads are the majority of threads clicked on say Qualifier or hosted by a big name?Very few clicks on tourneys that don't say "Qualifier".Do you need to play every qualifier? Can't you qualify in a few?Why not qualify, get your berth and treat your girls to play in a great tourney. At the start of a season, ask parents and players where they liked to play last year.I'll bet the word Qualifier isn't mentioned.By that means, facilities, location, concessions and field type-baseball or softball. Not to say we are all not worthy of qualifiers but I also look at treating the girls special. There are more great teams for competiton than only the top 15 recognized in the team polls thread.Don't want to tick anyone off,but I like to treat my girls and thier parents to a tourney that is a joy to be at knowing I qualified somewhere else.Maybe there is research.Have 12 girls on your team that hit the ball 180?Do it on a softball field and get a double, hit 180 on a men's slowpitch field of 300 and get a home-run because she can round the bases in a wheelchair and get a homerun?Treat your kids to a great softball tourney once in a while. Not calling any tourney's out ,just don't understand why nobody clicks on the non qualifiers as much.I go for qualifiers and places I want to treat the parents and players to.
Some of my stats and ideas could be wrong, educate me,don't call me out,I'm not trying to be offensive, just curious.

Teams play travel ball to play against better copmpetition. Unfortunately the type of tourneys you are mentioning don't consistently have the upper level competition most teams are looking for. If you are one of the upper level teams you will be chastised for "trophy hunting" if you do play "down."

Not to mention that as you get older and try to get in "Showcase" tourneys for college exposure your schedule will be frowned upon by TD's when they go to consider your team for entry. Just a few tid bits.

It is a teams self balance of skills and the teams should try to get good enough to play up. Playing down in tournaments never makes anyone happy, weaker teams get shut down and the better skilled teams spent almost the same amount of money and gained no challenge satisfaction.... thats why you have A & B as well as Rec level events. Qualifiers determine what teams are ready to advance...... The thrill to be the One at the top. I agree there needs to be more lower level eventsfor teams that should be there but not many teams want to say they never had a shot at the big teams. Teams in the middle have it rough..... go to a Rec event and get shamed for entering it or going to bigs and getting blown away, no winner. There is a need for more TD's in the lower levels.

I know some of the bigger organizations with multiple teams go to tournaments that have all their age groups offered to keep their teams together. Most of these smaller, non-qualifiers only offer 1 or 2 age groups. Plus who wants to go to a tournament where the competition is low? The whole point is to challenge them with the best competition we can find.

Panther, I'm on your side. 95% percent of the tournaments in Ohio are held by organizations for fundraisers. With that, teams trade going to each others events which makes it harder for individuals such as myself to get teams. Heck, you can give away the moon... and it's about going to another organizations event first.

Qualifiers... only qualifier that counts is ASA. Every other organization will let you into their World Series by asking... which to me is a shame. Why even list a qualifier as a TD and pay X amount of dollars for berths plus the regular fee charged.

I have heard how organizations are going to hold N$A qualifiers in 2010 here in Southern Ohio just because they feel they will get more teams wanting to qualify for the World Series in Columbus, Ohio. I can't but shake my head and wonder... Have they forgotten Tealtown and the experience for two years in a row ?

Still has coaches mad even to this day.

HOW IN THE WORLD CAN ANY ASSOCIATION FORGET ?

I'm coming up with young kids so this reference is lost on me. What happened for two years in Tealtown?
