So, if the truly talented teams are being turned away consistently, do the colleges still view this as a showcase worth attending. Hate to waste a weekend in another state, not having our daughters seen either.

Sounds like MI has figured out a way to get their DDs seen without too much other talent overshadowing them.... HMMMMMM! Fire up GOSHEN, BEAVERCREEK, or Elsewhere and have our own.....

Sapphires 16u accepted - finished 2nd to Lasers Red at 14u last year. Happy to be "in" but pretty confused about some selections (or "rejections" I should say).

The Lasers tourney sounds great, wish we knew about that before committing, although we really like Compuware. Me thinks the Lasers Gold is going to be a smoking tournament. About time the big machine started wagging its big tail. Too much marquee and star power, to not build the next step.

Maybe next year?

Rick, bring that Valley Extreme team down to Marion for the Lasers tournament. I had my first oppurtunity to go to Compuware last year and I can honestly say I was not very impressed.

Sounds like Compuware is turning out to be the next Aunt Rosies. All they need now is tie-dyed Ts and tennis shoes!! What a shame... :(

Doom 95 shut out again.

OMG. In my humble opinion Doom 95 is either the best or second best 14U team in Ohio and I don't think anyone could argue that Doom 95 isn't at least in the top five 14U teams.

I'm not going to name teams, but in a fall tournament we saw two of the teams that are going to Compuware at 14U. They were nowhere close to the competitive quality of the Doom 95 team (which is not to say they are bad teams, as Doom 95 represents quality that is very hard to attain). I make my comparison from first hand knowledge: we beat one of the teams twice and the other got knocked out without playing us, but I did scout that team during the tournament; with the Doom 95, on the other hand, we are 0-for the several times that we have played them.

I'm thinking that the Lasers Gold should schedule their Invitational for the same weekend as Compuware in future years, as they have done for 2010. And elite Ohio teams should support that tournament rather than applying to Compuware with its nonsense selection criteria and less than accurate representation to college coaches that Compuware gets the best teams from Michigan and contiguous states.

In fact, I'm ticked off enough about this that I would be willing to spearhead an email to send to college coaches who have been invited to the Lasers Gold Invitational, explaining why that tournament far better represents the best of Ohio travel ball. Send me a PM if you are a coach of an Ohio travel team and would be willing to have your name on the list of signatories for that email. (You would of course be sent the actual text of the email before making the final decision to join in it).

Good for you cgs.

I really thought that Compuware could ride on their reputation for a few years, but eventually they will taint their reputation and lose the college coach following that they have enjoyed. However, it has been a few years now of rediculous selections by the organization without a significant drop in attendance by college coaches.

It may take the teams here on Ohio to not apply to the tournament. If there are Ohio teams represented at the tournament, it may take longer for the college coaches to figure out that there is a problem. It also falsely represents Ohio as lacking in talent.

Personally, I had a coach who told me she quit going to Compuware two years ago because the talent was being watered down for Michigan teams. Her choices, GAPPS, Stingrays, Best of Best and some org tourney in Pittsburgh.

Isn't it funny.. that her choices was mostly Ohio events.... Now, Patti's tournament comes to town.... Now Lasers in the North (Marion) and Lasers in the South (Goshen)

Looks like to me Ohio has some hard working TD's in showcases. God Bless them to watch over our young ladies and trying to make a difference for them.

One thing I can say about Ohio teams... they never shy away from competition. Never.

A couple years back, I told John after he went down and won the tourney in Tennessee at 12u in the Spring, that a TD would be silly not to let him into his event for 1/2 price as he had a bulls eye on his back now.....lol

His answer, " I like that bulls eye"....

Ohioquakermom,

I also had a MAC coach tell me that they no longer attend Compuware for the same reason...watered down talent. They said they could get all of the scouting they needed by attending Stingrays, ASA States, Best of the Best, GAPSS and Sluggerfest.

I really thought that last years selection for Ohio teams was bad, now it's become outright rediculos!!! How in the world don't you take the best 14U team in the state of Ohio? Doug, I feel for you, Wendle and all the girls!!! I know how hard you've tried to get in Compuware for years now.
