Wanted to post this in the results section but since we have a handful or so of teams both @ 16's & 18's from Ohio playing down in the Music City Hits Tournament this week in Nashville, thought it best to just put it here in "general softball". Please post any results from the first 2 days of pool play for their website is not updated: www.musiccityhits.com
Thanks in advance!

Man, the team numbers are way down. That tournament used to be packed with teams from all over. I know the last time we were there, a couple years ago and there werent very many colleges represented.

Stingrays have 1 win by forfeit. Alabama team no showed, would rather play and even lose than sit all day without playing til late after waiting on rain yesterday... Losses to TN Thunderbirds today 4-0 and Colorado team yesterday 10-0. Bats are asleep, but played a whole lot better today. Two more tomorrow but Nashville is hopping this week. Devastation at the park from the floods is an eye opener.... Imagine metal fences, dugouts, etc just pushed over.... Good to be able to support a local economy after something like that and everyone we have come in contact with is so excited we are here playing.

The tourney may have lost a few team due to other events and the floods down here.

Still very good teams playing here, I second supporting the Nashville economy.
Good people down here and the colleges should be here starting today.

I do not like to post much. But great job by a few Ohio Teams in real tough heat. The Sapphires, Static, and Xpress Gold did real well. As for the Heat -First of all, we were never 0-3. But we did only finish up 2-3-1 (2 in ITB) with an appology for the TD and the UIC for the last game and their mistakes. But after just a 40 minute practice with 8 players. We should not of expected much more. Again Congrats to all the players that endured that heat. Good Luck to all.

Thanks Kav...we had a great time at Music City Hits and it was nice to see some old friends. The devastation that was caused at Drakes Creek Park from the flooding was sad to see. We were so glad to contribute to their struggling economy. The Nashville Sports Council did a great job to even have this event so cudos to them. Ohio was represented well. I had a chance to watch a few innings of OFC Heat (Urton)...they have a great squad! They staged a couple of real nice come backs. I also was able to watch a few innings of the MVE Gold on Saturday...Collier launched a late inning homer to help push her team into the finals. We played the Kentucky Bluegrass Bulldogs in our first game and won 3-0, In our second game we played The Next Level out of Colorado and won 3-2, Our third game was a 2-0 win by forfeit against the Alabama Bombers, In our fourth game we played the Ohio Stingrays (Marcum) and won 3-1 and in the fifth game of pool play we faced the eventual Music City Hits Champion Tennessee Firebirds and was defeated 2-0 in a heartbreak loss in a game that was 0-0 in the sixth when we commited a crucial error that cost us a run. In elimination play we defeated the Alabama Midnight Express 5-0 and then lost to the Sapphires in a game we were leading 1-0 late when the error bug hit for an evetual 5-1 loss. We were forced to go with only 9 due to injuries and a last minute pull out. I am glad we still attended as we finished well and a great time was had by all...great food too!

Knowing what we know now, if we were to go back next year, we would definatley buy passes to the nightly concerts downtown at the stadium. Every night had 5 headliners from Carrie Underwood, Steel Magnolia, Lady Antebelum, Tim McGraw, Trace Adkins.... every night!!

There were also free ones all day long along the riverfront and the one we popped in on was Josh Gracin.... A really great week for ball and fun if you do go. Hotter and more humid than Orlando though....

Congratulations to all the Ohio teams that made the trek!

Only saw 3 College coaches at our games though...
