how did they pass to doom95? so a team that wins a berth that chooses not to go can pass berth on to anyone they choose?

there are a couple of other berths won. i think that there is a dayton or cincinnati metro berth or something and then the Region 9 qualifier from last weekend in Ashland.

Here you go Heat:
14U POOL "A"#1Wooster#2 San Diego#3 Jack. Jag#4 Ohio X-Streme

14U POOL "B"#5Buckeye Heat#6 Maddogs#7 Twisters#8 Ohio Stringrays#9 Ohio Intensity

anyone know who Jack.Jag is? Jackson Jaguars?
I wonder how they chose the pools up? not knowing anyone in pool A, but it kind of looks like San Diego has a free ride to a pool #1 seed.

Not a free choice --I think (not 100% positive) that doom 95 finished 5th therefore was next in line. OR also heard something about doom stayed in the winners bracket longer than the team they tied with. so doom was next in line by the way they finished. MD

Yes Jackson Jaguars a good team but I wondered as well how they pulled them. However, I understand that they shouldn't put all the great teams in one and the others in another. Having said that, I wish we could switch with the Ca team:D

You will need to provide Canton Recreation department with a bigger donation then the CA team did then. ^_^!

MD, Any idea why the Gold is not going? Didn't they fair well as ASA both at 10u and 12u?

ASA States - Neither Lasers Gold nor Valley Extreme Heverly were accepting of the berth - so Doom 95 was next in line. The list of Ohio Ice Silver, Intensity, Lasers Black and Doom 95 is as a result of ASA States. Dayton Metro sent its berth to WV with the Mt Thunder. The Region 9 tourney only had two teams sign up (same weekend as Compuware and Laser Nation) - Lasers Black and Maddogs. When we (Lasers Black) qualified at ASA States we were refunded our Region 9 money and I believe the berth was given to the Maddogs. Three remaining opportunities as I understand it - Canton NQ, Cleveland Metro and Cincy Metro.

I know Doom 96 has their eye on the Cincy Metro, several good teams have their eye on Canton NQ and I have no idea when or where Cleveland Metro is.

I will say if I would have known a CA team was flying in, I would have skipped Heat-in it up and an opportunity renew our rivalry with Doom 96 (renew heck we play each other almost every weekend) in order to prevent a CA team from stealing a berth.

I believe they committed to going NSA early on, without thinking to much about it they scheduled and won a 16u ENQ tourney for ASA and then when they reconsidered and thought about going 14u USA/ASA they didn't want to risk being told that they couldn't play once they got there because they won a 16u ASA 'Championship Play' Qualifier - even though the rule seems to never be enforced - it only takes one Laser-hater to make a big deal and force an ASA official to enforce a stupid rule. Unfortunately Warren Jones couldn't protect them from it.

It stinks because they are clearly one of the top 14u teams and they should be representing Ohio in Moline.

I hear you Mike. Seemed almost like the Team List was under wraps until too late for anyone to make changes to their plans. I think the OH Teams there will take care of business and send them back empty handed. 16 other Cali Teams already have their births. They appear to be desperate.

I talked to Tim at the ASA National team game and all he told me then was" A team from CA, a team from Medina, Jackson Jags, Xtreme and a few more inquires. We got in just because we had an off weekend, it was close and we hadn't played many games due to the rain. Looks as if we stepped in and now need to step up.

The Cleveland berth is the Firecracker Frenzy and it is next weekend. the Buckeye Heat 95 is there with a few Cleveland teams. It used to be the Cleveland Metro and they way it went was you had to be one of the Metro area teams to enter and gain the berth.

Question: If a team has already obtained a berth to asa/usa, then play in another asa/usa qualifier, they put there berth up for grabs?
As they supposedly automatically lose their berth for entering the qualifier and have to earn another during that new qualifying tournament? I know here in Arizona a team was not permitted to play in our local asa/usa qualifier by ASA, they had their berth and unless they were willing to forfeit their berth, they were not permitted to play in the tournament.;&
Thought I read Intensity is in this one, and I know they got thier berth 2 weeks ago. TT are you guys playing in this one???

woolfman:

We have confirmed with Warren that the Cleveland bid is open to Region 9 teams. We expect to have to battle to win the bid, especially against the fine Ohio Hurricanes team.

I was very sad to hear that the Region 9 bid was literally given to the Maddogs. I hope that we never again have such a conflict between the Regional 9 qualifier and the showcases.

RD, you are correct, but from what I've read earlier in this thread, that USED TO BE the rule in previous years. Intensity is playing at this tourney and does NOT have to forfeit previous berth earned at States.

CGS,
I can also see how those attending would like to see Intensity and San Diego paired in the same pool as we've already earned our berth giving more teams a better crack at reaching finals, but no matter how the pools are setup, someone won't like it. I look forward to seeing everyone there and know everyone is ready to bring their "A" game we just need some good weekend weather now. ^_^!
