@MD: the TD just used the short-hand "San Diego" and didn't identify the team name. I'll post Saturday when we find out who it is. I know that in the past the So-Cal Athletics have come to Ohio open qualifiers. We will just have to see.
@Mardee: I will try to remember to update. Send me a text message (my phone is on my fb page) and that will start our chat. I know that Ted is on the list for your text messages, but I don't think I am. He's not as "chatty" as I.

I was reading on the Moline 14u USA/ASA Facebook page and saw this:
"California Desperados95 from Southern California have qualified in Glouschester, Mass. See you all in Moline."
I guess this is why I don't remember seen a Mass. team at ASA Nationals. Although I have seen them at Easterns. And here I thought it was the distance they had to travel.
We will know Ohio teams are serious when we have teams traveling to Wisconsin to steal a berth from the badger state.

MD, I checked last years 2009 ASA sight for teams attended and there were two SD Teams (SD Renegades & SD Elite). Thinking it might be one of them as I know one of those teams was a 13u last year.

i hope you guys stomp them so bad that no Ca team ever considers coming to ohio to qualify. I mean they could go to WV, or Ky , Or ??? but get one of our berths ? no way. we need to not only beat them but rub their nose in it. I hope thats what happens. MD

Per the tournament director, It looks like San Diego Thunder....This organization was very good in the early and mid 2000's.....

if they were good they would'nt be in northern ohio this week. KILLEM ' DEMOLARIZE THEM ' and send them packin back to socal. with no berth and out about 2K a family. givem' a buy one get one free pop can to Cedar Pointe. MD

I don't appreciate the entire thought process of some out of state team that thinks" hey those weak links in Ohio we can just go win their berth " like I said let them go to Ky or Wv or connecticut or Rhode Island. maybe Wyoming ? But ohio berths should be used by ohio teams. MD

a few years ago, when the 14u national was held at shreve, we faced 2 california teams and a team from arizona. the Arizona team won it over the san diego team that was there. they do it all the time.
think about how much commitment that california has if they are willing to spend all that money and do all that traveling for a shot at a berth.
heck, we have parents complain when we want to do an overnighter in Columbus.
don't take them lightly just because they didn't qualify out west. think of how many teams are out there and how little of berths given. think in ohio at the states of the good teams that didn't win a berth. maybe because of injury or attitude ro just one of those days.

about 80 teams entered the socal states with 16 berths available. bad draw, pitcher inj, just one of those weekends etc etc . it does happen. still hope they lay an egg. MD
