fastpitchrox:

I thought about responding to tcfastpitch this morning before heading off to the ball field but then realized that, just as we know your teams don't duck competition, most people on this board already know that we are playing virtually all ASA/USA qualifiers and Ohio showcases this season. The good news is that we have very collegial relations with your 14U team's coaching staff and some of the 14U parents/players and we will not let the attack by tcfastpitch affect that.

Anyone who thought that we were hoping to avoid playing the Stingrays or So Cal Thunder in this tournament obviously doesn't know much about double elimination as played out in small draws.

If a TD has incorrectly applied its own tiebreaker rules in a pool in which not everyone played head-to-head, you can bet that I will make the appropriate arguments about why the rules have been applied incorrectly. You can call it crying. I prefer to call it fighting for what my girls earned when they played those two pool games against the Maddogs (a 6-2 win) and the Intensity (a 3-0 loss). There were three teams who were 1-1. Our run differential, which was the tiebreaker after head to head, was +1. The run differential for the Jackson Twisters (whom we did not play head to head) was -7. But the Jackson Twisters were listed as the second seed, the Stingrays (who did lose to the Twisters in head to head competition and whom we also did not play in pool competition) were listed as 3rd seed, and we were listed as the fourth seed.

We had every right to argue that the Twisters could not be placed ahead of us given the run differential numbers and that a head-to-head competition in which we did not participate could not send us to the fourth seed.

In a separate post, I will offer my congratulations to the Stingrays for their victory over us and I will also explain how proud and happy I am with our players' performance this past weekend.

Anyone know who won 12u?

Ohio Ice put the Lasers Orange in the Losers Bracket by winning 8-1.

In the first game for the Championship, Lasers beat the Ice 3-0. The next game was halted by another weather outbreak. In the top of the third, Ice was winning 1-0 when the game was called.

I really want to know who got the berth, I understand the Stingrays finished 3rd, so who finished 2nd and 1st and who received the berth?????

The So Cal Thunder will end up with the berth, whether they are 1st or 2nd, because the Ohio Intensity, the only undefeated team, already has a berth. I am assuming that the Championship game and the What If game were canceled and the bid awarded to the Thunder.

Intensity won the tourney, SD Thunder gets the bid due to the Intensity already being qualified.

Hats off to Intensity great bunch of girls sorry we didn't have enough gas in the tank to beat the SD Thunder. Hats off to the Buckeye Heat, Ted's bunch never quits and gave us a scare coming back from a 10-1 making it 10-8 pretty quick nice job to your young ladies. Finally hats off to my Stingrays, fought all the way back through the losers bracket 5 games today we just ran out of gas...Nice Job Ladies.

Thanks Wylee. As we told your #14, who is dear to us, we really wanted to see you keep the berth here in Ohio. It was a long, long, day with the delay caused by our game with So Cal Thunder (protest and then ITB) and the rain delays. Your girls battled and kept us at bay and I regret that the effort ran down the gas tanks. Congrats to the Stingrays on a fine tourney.

Darn it Wylee, heck of a weekend and battling out of the losers bracket. I really wanted us all to hang out in Moline and share some beers and swap some bs stories. I know I get Koch and Dan, and Lil Ron (our beer *****, lol) is still trying. I really hoped this was your weekend, and it sounds like it would of been if you didn't run out of gas. Great weekend and we will meet up one way or another, as I'll be coming back to deer hunt again this December.

Protest? What happened?

Protest? What happened?

SD Thunder Coach went out to mound 3 times in an inning and was advised by ump he NEEDED to change his pitcher. SD Coach protested at that moment, with his team down 2-1 in 5th inning, which then assured that if Buckeye Heat won the game, they would have to go back and replay from that point forward if the protest was won(Which it was). Heads-up move by SD Coach which Ohio FP fans didn't seem to care for. Ended up that SD Thunder wins game in ITB, so protest didn't matter, other then much to SD Coaches hopes, it distracted the opponent long enough for them to capitalize on getting a run in to tie. Some call it BUSH, others thought it was doing whatever it takes to get the job done.

Well, Championship game was about to start when SD Thunder forfeit as their Coaches/parents decided competing late on Sunday wasn't worth it knowing they already had their berth. Would have loved to seen the rematch from Intensity's earlier victory over them, but appearently SD Thunder wasn't here for the quality competition. LOL!

And ironically, I think everyone walked away happy at the end of an extremely long, hot, humid, wet exhausting day. Especially the UMPS and TD, as I believe the umps cars were spinning up rocks in the parking lot before the coaches even explained to their teams that the Championship game was forfeited. LOL!

CONGRATS to Buckeye Heat going into ITB with Thunder and CONGRATS to Stingrays for a great Sunday rally. It was a ton of fun to watch both of your teams play this weekend.

NOTE TO OHIO ASA & TDs:
Why would we dare let teams from other stats compete for OH Berths when they aren't even willing to complete the tourney. That was SURPRISING to say the least. FINISH WHAT YOU START! Even if it means another "L". Or would that been to hard to return to Cali with two "L"'s but yet a BERTH. I can hear all the Cali Coaches have a ball with that. So you went to Ohio to steal a berth and lost twice, but have a berth.

There should be about 20 Cali teams heading to Ohio next year for berths based on the above scenario... LOL!

Thanks for answering.

I'm very surprised the umpire didn't know the rule - you're allowed 3 conferences per 7-inning GAME and must change pitchers on the 4th and subsequent conferences. I agree it's a heads-up move to file a protest you know you will win rather than just set the ump straight without filing a protest.
