Angela tinter pitches for Akron...went to virgin tech and no-hit team USA! She's my favorite =D

I also read somewhere that Jennie finch is finishing this season, so hopefully she'll be there!!

Angela isn't with Akron this season-but she is going to be on the softball cruise/clinic with Crystl Bustos and Taryne Mowatt in Feb. Angela is with the US Futures team this summer.

Jennie had prior family commitments so she wasn't able to attend this weekend. Her last games should be during the NPF Championship series in LA.

After finishing up my rookie season with the Akron, OH Racers, I have made the decision to move from Orlando, FL to Akron, OH. I will be working with Crystl Bustos and will be available to start giving softball lessons and run clinics after September 16th, 2010! I'm excited to finally get the chance to help kids learn more about the game and sharpen up those mechanics!!!!

Micaela is going to be a great addition to an already great group of instructors doing clinics, camps and lessons. Got a chance to meet and get to know her during my weeks in Akron this summer and am excited she is going to be working with us.

We will be bringing Micaela down to Cincinnati this fall and those who attend the clinics will get a chance to see what excitment and energy she brings to the sport.

I will be posting fall clinic information here soon, so be sure to keep checking and get registered!

Good luck Micaela. We watched you play a few times at Firestone. In fact, I think my dd got into a discussion with you after last Saturday's Racers game regarding cleat care. I hope we see you again at one of Crystl's clinics.

We went to last Saturday's game. The Bandits beat the Racers, but Firestone is such a great place to watch a game. The players are simply wonderful on the field and especially dealing with the the fans after the game. They signed anything and everything and talked with everybody. After the game, the line of girls and parents extended from the dugout down the right field foul line, out to the 300-foot sign. Every Racer went all the way down the line, making sure nobody was missed. They are great people, great ambassadors for Fastpitch, and the fastpitch community should attend as many games as they can. As my dd and I waited in line, we talked to people who had driven in from as far away as New Jersey and Kentucky to watch the games.
For fastpitch lovers, the Racers are a treasure we must support. And it's a cheap evening at the ballpark as well.

My thoughts exactly ...... I'd prefer to watch a Racers game over any other professional sports program in the area. Their season is too short! The time the players spend signing autographs is priceless.

Firestone is a great place to watch a game!

We went to last Friday's game and the Racers won 1-0 in the last inning. Although DD didn't meet any of the Racers, we were over by the gift shop when the Bandits were coming off of the field. Kristin Thorson was the pitcher that night and talked to my DD for a good 20-25 minutes on the benefit of metal cleats over rubber for pitchers, how to roll out her legs to get rid of knee problems and how to turn her shoulders enough to make sure she's landing properly! She was super nice and I know she was ready to get out of there and get some rest. She now has 4 new fans! What a great person!

What were the benefits for metal cleats for pitchers? I've gotten my cleats stuck in the dirt/on the rubber in the middle of a pitch more times than I care to remember. I'm buying new cleats this fall and thinking of going back to rubber, but I'd be very interested to hear what she said about that!

She was saying that the metal cleats were that you get better push-off, feet don't slide and it helps her run faster because they grip the ground better. We had actually asked another player too that was an infielder and she felt the same way, but we wanted to ask a pitcher. My daughter was dead against them until we talked to the Bandits pitcher and now she's willing to give them a try. Let me know what you decide! Good luck!! What brand do you buy? We usually get her Tanel, but she wants to try Ringors.

Hmm okay. Thanks for passing that along!
Metals are hard to get used to because you kind of feel like you're on little stilts for the first few times, but once you get used to them, they're fine.. I don't hate them but I think I slip around more with them. I get the cleats stuck on the rubber sometimes too. I'm also a pretty big clutz, so that could have something to do with it. I haven't worn plastic cleats in a couple years, so I can't even really remember the difference.
One thing though, I don't bat, so I don't have to worry about a certain type of cleat making me slower. If your daughter is quick, maybe metal would be a great thing to try to make her even faster.
I've also heard people complain about ringors being pretty heavy and bogging them down, but they might've made them lighter since I heard that a few years ago. I guess that's just something you'd have to ask around for? I didn't notice a difference when I had them, but I'm pretty slow to start with..

My first pair of metals were ringors. I also had a pair of plastic ringors about 4-5 pairs ago. They were pink and I loved them! My current cleats are Nike. No pitching toe, but $10 clearance at the nike outlet..can't beat that! lol. They're getting a hole in the toe, so it's about time to get new shoes..

I think my next pair will be Ringors. Maybe tanel if I get plastic. I think the tanel metals are ugly...and Ringors are maybe a little cheaper. I'm also considering Boombah. Their cleats look pretty cool. I just haven't heard anything about them yet..
I think I am leaning toward metal right now though.

Anyway, good luck figuring out which ones to get!! She should maybe try to talk to other pitchers her age to see what they're doing and read some reviews. High school didn't pick up metal until I was a senior, so I can't really speak for younger me...

Thank you so much for all the love!!! I'm super excited to become an official Ohio citizen!!!!! I will be completely moved in and ready to start training mid September. I had my mom bring me ALL the winter clothes possible! Compared to Orlando, FL, I'm pretty sure I won't be swimming outside on Christmas day this year!!!!

I play for the Racers and appreciate all the love! WE LOVE OUR FANS!!!!

And the Fans love the players.

What better group for the people to support than the players and administration that supports the fans.

I was a TD up in Clinton and I sent the girls to a Racers game on Saturday night and fed them on me and the tournament fees.

That was the day where the team had a hard time getting back in from Chicago/Milwaukee airports. Even after only very little sleep.. and after two innings and then an absolute monsoon... you ladies came out and made dreams come true for a bunch of little 8u and 10u girls by signing autographs, talking one on one with them even though I am sure most of you were absolutely wore out from the airplane deal.

Memories of a life time for them. Memories that make them come back as they consider every one of you their "friend".

Next year at my event, we are taking a total of 48 teams for the event. No doubt, I am sending 48 teams worth of girls to the event once again on me. Their parents as well. Many will be using their rain out tickets from this year to go to Friday night's game I am sure.

Every single team that was in this year's event is coming back. Maybe because of the tournament.. but I think it is mostly because they get to go to the Racers game !!!!

Here's the link to the tournament and you can read the coaches and parents reaction to you ladies and what you done for these young girls.

Link is: http://www.game-ex.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=25946

Next year's event is on July 29th-31st, 2011. And I know for fact.. WE are going to rock the house that Saturday night !!!!

Joey has assured me that the Racers will be in Akron that weekend as she is the pro league scheduler.

Only thing I wish you ladies would do... is here in the OFC there is an Akron Racers section. I wish you ladies would put your names, numbers to be reached, etc... so teams can get in touch with you for clinics... so we can support you as well.
