It is a sad day in East-Central Indiana and West-Central Ohio! We just received word that Rich Rosinski and Erin Rosinski-Newland will not be coaching again next season!! My dd, Katelind Phillips (KP, Uno, #1), has played for these two wonderful people since 12U. We are in mourning and feel as though we have been kicked in the gut at this news! At this time, it is impossible to believe that we will find new coaches that can give as much of their time and energy as these two did for this team! There are not two finer people in this area! They did it all for the love of the game and for the love of their "adopted" girls while asking nothing in return but that they play hard and "don't s**k!" :)

I come away with knowing a few things, definitely! My dd is a MUCH better player having played for them. My dd is a better person having played for them. My dd's life was enriched having them in it!! The travel softball world, especially in Ohio, will not be the same.

So, Rich and Erin, Lefty says, "I owe it all to you! Thanks times a million!! Hopefully, my next team won't think I'm too slow ;) lol" I say, "We love you both and will miss you terribly!"

I must say that Rich and Erin will be missed by many. I, when coaching Ohio Heat 12u, use to love going head to head with Rich, Erin and the girls. We played each other so much that the girls knew each other like sisters and have become good friends, especially with my daughter Cortney. We had some good times and the memories will always be there. I thank both of you for your hard work and for putting good softball players in the community. There is no doubt in my mind that you guys are going to be watching them in college because even though you have stepped down from coaching, I know you will not step away from the game completely. I have not spoken to either one of these two since their decision to step away but I can assure you girls that if you need help on your game in any way all you have to do is give one of them a call and they will be there for you. I wish both of you the best of luck and I am sure I will be seeing you around the fields.

Is this true Rich ? Wow how we will miss the Fall scrimmages and the spring practice games.

I don't believe it honestly. Rich is a great coach as is Erin and this will leave a hole in the Southwest Ohio area.

Please verify this.

Rich took my DD when she was 8 when he coached the 10U team. He did a lot of good things for her. We always talk about non-parent coaches and how we would like to have them. Rich and Erin devoted many hours and many dollars to their teams and never had a DD play on them. BUT, times change, Erin recently married coach Newland from Greenville and they'll be starting a new chapter in their life soon. Rich, well I still think he has a little Favre in him, we'll see. Anyway, he's been a good coach and good friend. Rich, maybe you can umpire now and actually leave the park with more money than you came with. Me, I'd just buy a nice boat and teach your non-coaching son-in-law how to fish.

Rich and Erin have taught my dd so much over the past year, making her a better player and a better person. It is sad to hear they are leaving, but I am sure we will see them around the fields, somewhere. Rich and Erin, take good care of each other and the new addition.

If his next grandkid is anything like his most recent grandkids, He won't make it.

We'll give him a year off then we'll see if he wants to start it all over again with 10s.;&

All the best to Rich and Erin in what I hope and expect will be a short retirement. They have softball in their blood and there is no antidote but going to the field.

Having a 94' DD, she has faced Rich's teams for years and always circles them on her schedule. So with that I know you will be missed by more than just the team in orange.

Thanks for all you have done for the game and the kids that play it.

All the best,

Derek Jacobs

Coach Rich and Coach Erin are DEFINITELY two coaches who have coached for all of the right reasons....the girls! We had the pleasure of meeting Rich and Erin this summer and I can honestly say that meeting them and playing for the Ohio Wave is an experience that our family will not soon forget. Rich has a way of bringing out the best in the girls and making them play at a level that they did not know that they could achieve. The Ohio Wave Organization will be hurting without these two as coaches...no doubt about it. Rich and Erin, if you would like to come down to Southeastern Ohio for a change of scenery and a chance to meet and coach new girls...I think there is an opening for an 18U Flamin' Fury Coach. Southeastern Ohio would be proud and honored to have both of you coaching for their organization. Good Luck to both of you!

Well I haven’t been on here for a while and yes I am having some withdrawals but no second guessing yet. It was a tough decision and there’s no way I would want to be faced with making it twice.

Having the opportunity to coach the players that we have over the past 6 years has been something I will never forget. Thank you to everyone who decided to be a part of our teams. We appreciated your trust and confidence in us to work with your kids all these years and I hope that in some small way we had a positive impact on them. Even the players who might have only played with for a season or two, we always tried to be fair (and realistic) with everyone and I know that the (realistic) part is the one that sometimes may have caused issues but I always felt that it was better to be honest (at least from our standpoint) then just try to fluff something, that was not my style.

The Fastpitch softball community is awesome here in Ohio. I have met some fantastic people over the years and they will continue to be dear friends to me. To those who offered well wishes above, many thanks, we will truly miss competing with each of your teams during the summer.

As for ALL of the players that we have coached over the years THANK YOU for all of your hard work and commitment. You made this fun and rewarding. I know that some of you moved on to other teams over the years but we never stopped keeping tabs on you and how each of you were doing. Continued success to each and every one of you.

To the players who have been with us thru thick and thin (and many years), most of you were like our own kids. We watched you grow from 10 year old snot nosed kids to young ladies who are now driving around, and getting ready to make decisions about where to go to college. You will always be special to us.

The biggest thrill of all and one of the main reasons that I personally did this over the years was the opportunity to spend the summers with my Daughter Erin. Being able to watch her grow and help these kids grow up over the years is something that cannot be explained, only experienced. I coached her from the time she was 7 years old and it was not always easy. Her and I would fight like cats and dogs most of the time, and I was HARD on her. Ultimately is was Erin who taught me everything I needed to know about how to handle female athletes. Be tough but fair, and let them have some fun. I will miss sharing softball with her more then I can say, but I will cherish the years that we did this forever. Thanks for being the biggest part of it Erin, without you I might not have lasted one season. 

So good luck to everyone with tryouts and next year, I’m sure that I’ll still catch a few games here and there. See you at the ballpark……………………….

Good luck to you in any endeavor that you shall seek in the future, Rich and Erin.

May your future be blessed for what you have done for so many girls... whether it was your team or another opposing team's players.

I hope its just a temp thing Rich. Kinda like the Florida Football coach. Take some time off, then come back. You and your teams have elevated the play of softball in southern ohio. I see you at every clinic, and you know the game as well as anyone. I honestly see you Rich coaching at the college level. Best of luck to you,

Brett, thanks for the kind words. I was always motivated to continue learning about the game. Over the years I was fortunate because I was willing to listen to and learn from some of the best in the country. I always figured that if players and parents trusted in us to put them in a good position then we had better be prepared to be able to do that. I took the responsibility seriously.

As for the college thing well I was thinking about that at one time but we will have to see where that shakes out. Its a great game and seeing it played at the highest level is rewarding.

Best of luck to you guys in the coming season and they are fortunate to have you on the staff there, keep up the good work.
