Butler has had 2 girls sign their NLI's in the early signing period.

Morgan Haer: Urbana University (D2)

Katie Whetstone: Tennessee Tech University (D1)

Both girls have worked VERY hard for a long time to get to this point in their careers. Its great to see all of their hard work finally pay off.

CONGRATULATIONS LADIES!!!

Two great ball players - lucky schools. I wish them success this spring and with their future college teams!

I can't believe how quiet the GWOC talk is this year. No predictions for this coming season?

I predict that I am going to be just as miserable this school ball season as all of the others. ;-p

OK, I'll start.
In the South, Lebanon and Miamisburg both look like potential regional teams. They both return a ton of players and both were outstanding last year.

In the North, Greenville went 10-0 in the North last year, return a lot of key players, but don't look past Butler. They return two very good pitchers, both catch and are tough, and have some good young players. Piqua was young last year and has some talent.

In the Central, Beavercreek is the only team that returns their starting pitcher from last year. They also return some solid players in the field. I look for them to be tough. Centerville lost Megan Pearson, but return Chandler Scott, headed to BGSU, and some other very good players. Someone has been telling me they have no pitching, but I ain't buying it. ;& I look for them to be strong too. Wayne lost Angie Clark, and Nicole Chesley, but have a few girls that have played quite bit in the past few years and look to be real solid again. Pitching is not going to be a problem for them either. Northmont remains a mistery. Only one senior on the roster, breaking in a new pitcher and catcher, and only two regular position players from last year return. I think Fairmont may be down losing Walk, but I don't know what type of pitching they have in the younger classes. I think it is a safe bet that Springfield will be down, especially losing deBartolo.

There you have it!!! My brave predictions.

Fairborn has Bolser pitching this season so we should stay tight there, offense we should do ok, we stacked up pretty good on runs scored indoors, lets see if the Hawks can keep it up going into the season.

Another GWOC smack fest between Fairborn, Piqua and Lebanon at sinclair tomorrow.

Well, Fairborn and Piqua finished in a 2-2 tie. Fairborn supllied 4 players for Piqua (some mis-communications from Piqua) nice of the Fairborn girls to help out. Piqua had an 8th grader line a 2-out game tying double to right center. A little rust out there but both teams played ok.

Ok here goes my best guess...didn't too terrible with last year predictions...

CENTRAL
Wayne,Beavercreek,Northmont A crapshoot with these 3 teams, we could see another 3 way tie in Central this year. Beavercreek has the pitching experience but so does Wayne and Northmont has the Pfeffers.
Fairmont Big graduation losses has Fairmont reloading, but they do have some strong players ready to step up.
Centerville Huge graduation losses for Centerville, young pitching that is very good but very inexperienced. D1 signed Scott will take over for Pearson as hitting monster, but will need some young players to step up too.
Springfield Debartolo was Springfield, another team reloading.

NORTH
Greenville Greenville stays strong as usual
ButlerWhetstone will have a great year, possibly good enough to fly above the water!
PiquaI saw a strong team playing for Piqua at Sinclair, but not sure they are ready for the Wave
Troy, SidneyI haven't heard much about either team since last year, both went 1 and out post season last year & had similar GWOC schedule results.
Trotwood-MadisonUnfortunately the Rams need a big change to make a difference, but those girls keep plugging away...

SOUTH
Miamisburg I think Miamisburg will surprise and take the South
Lebanon Lebanon definitely took us to task at Sinclair, but I think this is the year of the Viking
Fairborn The Hawks will give it a good run but will just fall short this year, might tie with Lebanon for 2nd
Springboro They have some strong offensive players but pitching may not be able to compete with the above teams.
West Carrollton Big pitching loss due to graduation
Xenia Top four teams are as strong or stronger than last year and I have not heard much new from Xenia.

Someone from Centerville is expecting a major flood, because he is filling up lots of sandbags......

Its the same thing every year. Between him and Lynx from Lebanon they could dyke the Mississippi with all the sand bagging they do. Lol

I know not of what you speak!!

Seriously though, after a year a two, these young pitchers we have will have us winning 20 games once again. They will put us on top of the heap once they get some experience...

I can't wait for the season to start. I think the GWOC will be very competitive with other areas. We have come a long way in early development of the area players. There are some very strong local travel teams that have really helped the players get ready for the spring season. We are now doing like the other areas have been doing for a long time. Winter games and practices will pay off for the GWOC. I am looking forward to seeing all of the new talent come in.
