Not at all. What I simply said was that experience adds some legitimacy to their opinions. If you would look on my profile, you would see my experience and that I am a hitting and catching instructor as well. What you wouldn't see is that I have 16 catchers that played or are currently playing at the college level that I taught with 4 more on the way. The same with hitters but they are more numerous.
I also know that there are 2 hitting coaches in my area with many more years in experience than myself that had 1 hitter play D1 simply because the players were athletic enough to surpass the crap mechanics (my opinion) they taught. Yes they had others play at lower levels but not many out of the thousands they have taught throughout their 30+ years. Does that make their opinions on hitting right? Absolutely not! Does that mean that mine are? Absolutely not but my success rate is MUCH higher in the past dozen years with my players that put the work in. Does that mean that their opinions on some of the mental aspects of hitting should be totally disregarded? Again, absolutely not. The better educated the PARENTS become during this journey, the better informed decisions they can make. That said, your last line is 100% correct. However, you asked a question and I attempted to answer it because overall, that is exactly what profiles are for. Either way you look at it, remember the old adage of, "Opinions are like a$$holes. Everyone has one and they usually stink!"
