100's of illegal bats?

I have been reading on OFC about the USSSA bat rules which take effect in Sept. 2013. From what I can tell, the new rules would make hundreds of bats illegal for USSSA play. My daughter plays some USSSA tourneys and she needs a new bat, so basically I need to get her a 2012 (with new stamp) or a 2013 bat. Am I interpreting this correctly?

I was hoping to buy a 2011 XENO at a great price, but I guess it will be illegal by 9/2013.

you are correct if it doesn't have the new stamp it will be illegal after september 2013.

Buy either a 2012 or 2013 with the new stamp. Be careful with the 2012, I got a 2012 CF5 and it didn't have the new stamp on it.

What exactly does the new stamp say? Is it a USSSA 2012 stamp? Specific year?

It says the same as the old ones, its a new design and is right above the handle. Google 2013 usssa stamp

Sad part is, there are already people selling stickers with that identical stamp to try to pass older bats off as legal. Now it's up to the umps and coaches to know what to look for.

I see this really hurting USSSA in Ohio. I know in other states they have more of a monopoly and are able to dictate terms but we have too many other options here.

I didn't actually know that USSSA was that popular in other states.

my DD's bat says USSSA 1.20 BPF down on the barrel....it isn't the "fingerprint" stamp though....so is it illegal because it doesn't have that particular stamp? It has all the same info on it just not by the handle and not the oval stamp?? She will probably outgrow this bat by then anyways but I am curious!

Amy that is the old stamp, her synge will not be legal after sept 2013 in USSSA tournaments. It will however be fine for ASA and NSA.

http://www.usssa.com/usssa/usssa-gen...llBatMarks.pdf covers the bat licensing procedure.

This info provided by Tourn_Director in thread titled 2013 USSSA Fastpitch Bat Certification

So that says you can still play untill september of 2013, I still dont understand why you would play usssa, we had a great year last year and didnt play one of their tournaments. Once you go to Disney for their national event as a younger team, what else is there but slow pitch. This is the same sanctioning body that i was told I couldnt use a first base mit at third in a bar league.. WTH why not its a glove isnt it????

Has ASA made a statement about what they will allow in 2013?

While I have seen my share of poor decisions on ASA/USSA/NSA's part, I can't see a decision like this being undertaken very lightly, and certainly not without discussion with all the bat manufacturer's out there. I have never been to a USSSA convention but I have had the opportunity to attend several meetings between USSSA and the Sporting Goods Manufacturing Association (SGMA) and believe me, the SGMA carries a much bigger stick than USSSA. SGMA, I believe, meets with ASA and NSA also ( at least they used to) and they are also much bigger than ASA or NSA. The amount of bat revenue in a single year is staggering.
