Not sure, I was just told tonight that they dropped out at the last minute and that the schedule would have to change. Other than that I have no info. :-/

The YellowJackets needed to withdraw from the league due to too many players involved in the Kettering Hitting clinic being held on Sundays over the course of several weeks starting also in January.
This poses too many issues regarding fairness to our team and the other teams in the indoor league. In order to avoid forfiets, borrowing players from other orgs., being a burden for other teams to compete against we felt it is best that we withdraw from the league.
I entered the 12U team in the league and did not anticipate the scheduling difficulties that we are encountering with their prior commitments.
We apologize for any difficulties,

The 12U league begins tomorrow ! :)

Good-Luck to all the teams entered. In My opinion, real game play is better than any pitching machine. The last few indoor leagues at Gateway have been great not only for the 16U/18U teams, but now for the 11U/12U teams. The Dayton Area has long needed this type of league for Girls Fastpitch.

VALLEY_STORM I will agree that the dayton area has needed a place to play indoors and the gateway facility is better then nothing. The problem I see with the leagues or tournaments there is that the players are not able to play the game the way that it is supposed to be played. No sliding, stealing and the squeezing of the diamond make the game somewhat awkward. The games that we saw I felt that the players agressiveness was taken away. I would not want to see my DD develope any bad habits.

With respect to pitching machines and other practice devices, they all have there place. Basically players need to develop good skills and the best way to do that is working from a Tee, pitching machines, and other types of drills to develope swing technique and muscle memory. I feel that the winter months is just the time to do that.

The indoor game the way it is played at Gateway is fun, and it should help the players who play there, but I would beware that they get too used to that unusual playing style and then take it outside in the spring and summer.

EDAMAM, like I said earlier, it is not ideal, but then again not many indoor places are. I do however think that real time game play is by far more fun than standing in a cage waiting on a machine or standing and waiting on fungo grounders by the coach. The Valley Storm Organization tries to get our "Practice" in during the week, then enjoy the competition indoors on the weekends even if it is not under ideal situations. We are all about making it Fun for the players and parents.
Our parents seem to enjoy the league play on Sundays to see how the players are progressing after our practices. Again, not ideal, but FUN. ;) WWW.LEAGUELINEUP.COM/VALLEYSTORM

i would like to offer that our indoor leagues and tournaments are basicaly for instructional purposes, this is not for the world series. this is an indoor field that the girls can practice fielding, hitting and pitching with another team.
it may be a little hard getting use to the bounce of the ball but for the most part the girls can play softball during the winter months. i coach a boys 9u baseball team and the best practice i've found is live pitching and hitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to say that i think this winter league is great . over half of our team has never played fastpitch before and we are useing this for instuctional purposes. the best way to teach them is to let them see it for themselves. we have alot of talent on our team but they're use to playing slow pitch.
we are having a hard time with support from our community so we were glad to enter this league. we will take all the playing time we can

To whom it may concern!

As a coach and a Dad this is a very good way to get girls up to speed for the Spring and Summer months. I guess if you are going into the leauge for the ( WIN) than maybe you should ask your Coach what his intent for his team is??? I think this is the best way for the girls to get ( Batting Practice) (Good Infield Practice) and have a edge on the games to come. Who really cares if the Field is a little out of scale thats not what I believe Gateway is concerened about or even most of the Parents ( at least on my team). Its about the girls and getting their skill level up for their future!!! Living in the northern part of the world we are really lucky to have a place that offers this to our girls. Well I've said enough on this so I will say thanks to Gateway and all the Teams that entered for the winter. It will be fun!!! ( and maybe a LITTLE competitive) ;)

I agree with coachsds and vipers. This league is not only fun, but is competitive as it can be. It teaches teams the timing of the game and live pitching/hitting is far better than any pitching machine when it comes to getting a real feel for the game. If two equal teams happen to match up, then even more fun, but if not, it is still great practice for both teams. Thanks to Gateway for offering their facility to girls fastpitch. Dayton has no place other than Gateway to play indoors unless you want to shell out $300.00 per hour and not too many teams can swing that on a regular basis.

The Valley Storm will be back next year also. ;)
I think that real pitching and hitting in real game situations is far better than a batting or pitching lane. The Valley Storm Organization is all about having fun and letting our girls play in real world situations as often as possible. Our coaches spend a lot of time during the week at practice so we can ENJOY our weekends and play ball. Sure, the facilities are sometimes less than perfect, but it is as close to outside as one can get when it is winter. We have players on our teams from many different organizations from all around Ohio and we have been told that we offer more to the players and parents than their past teams. Not by one parent or player, but by many. That is great news to us. The Gateway League is Very competitive with Strong teams like the Miami Valley Vipers, Miami County Blaze, Sudden Death, and the High School league with great teams like Northwestern High School, Miami Valley xpress, Tippecanoe High School, Cincy Doom, Dayton Dominators, and the ladies from Charlies Angels.
Thanks to Gateway for giving girls in the Miami Valley an indoor complex to better their skills for summer.
