Beavercreek will try to have 11u tournaments ... based on the amount of entries and IF 11u teams come out of the woodwork.

I hear the Wizards up in the NW is going to have 11u divisions in 2012.

Personally, I try to have them for the 11u.. as I think 11u events are needed more in Ohio.

I think Pickerington Xtreme is going to run an all 11u tourny this summer. I don't have dates, but I am sure when Tim or Rico see this post they will probably jump on here and add some info. As far as 11u teams go, there are a bunch out there. I believe just about every Elite 00 team last year moved up and kept all 11's, Diamonds 00 disbanded, but all the players found other good 11u teams to join. Lasers have an 11u team now too. If TD's add 11u divisions I see them filling up.

Here's a thread I started in December of 2010 calling on 11u coaches to come list themselves so TD's knew they was out there and all I heard was " There is no need, blah, blah, blah".

Funny what a difference 9 months makes ;&

There's been a need for an 11u division for 4 years in Ohio.

Ohio might catch up to the rest of the world this year !!!!!!! :yahoo:

Why separate them in the tournaments? They are in the 12u division and they need to get used to playing the 12u teams. Ya it's hard because they are so much bigger and stronger sometimes, but those are the lumps you have to take to be the best you can. If you avoid the better teams on purpose...what's the point??? Our girls played as 11u's and they did well in some games and got spanked in other games but they learned to play better and when they came back as 12u's, they were much better for it. Your job as a 12u coach is to get them prepared for 14u and not playing the older, tougher teams is NOT going to prepare the girls for 14u. If you want to be a good team, you have to be willing to play with the big girls.

Why is it always it's, "They are avoiding better teams?"

That has nothing to do with it. It has to do they are younger in age and want to play their own age group. Most 16u play 16u events.. so why is it different for the 11u teams? Why must they play UP all season long in the 12u?

It is not like when they are 16u and can play with the 18u in some instances... it has to do with they are 11u.

If they come into 10u and take their lumps and then come into 12u as an 11u and take their lumps for the second year in a row.. then you are sometime losing them. Especially the parents who just watched two years of spending money on gas, motel rooms, and everything else ... for 4 run ruled games at a tournament ( maybe only a couple) and spend $400 or more each weekend after weekend all season long to get 4 - 1:10 minute timed games. Because you dang well know in a 12u tournament and a 4gg..a 3 pool - single elimination... majority of those hitting the road after the first single elimination game are 11u and weaker 12u teams.

So, every weekend they should do that, Klump ?

Like the 16u who every once in awhile like to play up in 18u... why not give the 11u that option as well.

Good luck to you 11u teams wanting to play in your own age group... instead of supplementing the 12u age groups tournaments with fodder.

One thing you will have to remember is there are a few 11U teams that have 1 or 2 12 yr olds.

Well said ohioquakerman ! I think people forget about all the changes the girls have to face moving up from 10u . Dont get me wrong we plan on playing a couple 12u tournaments and yes i think in the long run our girls will benefit from the better compatition . I do know for a fact though no one will enjoy a full season of disapointment ! Im trying 2 make this a long term experience and i beleive if we cant compete atleast once in a while , i will lose most of these girls before they enter their 12 year old season . I would have my team play any other team out there i just wont do it every weekend ! We have no 12s on our roster .

And there is 12u teams with 1 or 2 13 year olds

And there is 14u teams with 1 or 2 15 years olds

And there is 16u teams with 1 or 2 17 year olds

So, what's the point

There is no doubt you will better yourself playing up... I will not say that you won't, Coach. We and many others agree with that But, weekend after weekend after weekend of getting thumped (maybe) is just for the birds.

the point is that if we are so worried that your going to lose your players because they are getting beat when they are 11. Then why have 12 yr olds on a 11U teams at all. Plus why not allow them to play up. Seen many 11U teams beat up on 12U teams. I guess what I'm saying is yes they are younger and yes they will take their lumps, but it will make them better in the end playing better talent. If they want to win trophies, then play rec ball. They all get trophies there. But if you want to keep getting better then play better teams.

Teach them the game, then they won't get thumped every weekend. But making a special age division to cater to the new girls coming out of 10u so they don't get discouraged is rediculous. There already is an age group for them, it's called 12u. Do all participants get trophies in 11u tournaments too??? If you baby them and not prepare them for playing good teams than you are doing them a disservice.

Nobody says they shouldn't play up, Heat. I would if I was an 11u coach... but just sometimes if another option is available.. saying playing an 11u event... I am there every once in awhile in the Spring or Summer.

It's not about trophy hunting or whatever.. it's about the mindset of some 11u teams and players.. that they can say, " Yes, we can compete at OUR age level . Now, lets see if we can compete at the age level above us."

Truth be told, it's TD's not willing to have an 11u division.. because they are afraid that the 12u division won't look BIG in number of entries if they do so.... Thus, other teams will look to the other 10 events scheduled around Ohio that DOES have the numbers and the 11u teams entered as 12u teams and being used as fodders for the 12u teams to boost their egos.

That's the real truth !!!!

Of course they get trophies, Klump.

I guess that Klump likes when the 12u teams beat up on the 11u teams for their egos.

Wouldn't that be a disservice to the 12u teams to have to play 11u teams in a tournament ALL the time....LOL

Your argument is ridiculous . Get a clue.

It has nothing to do with 12u teams ego's, it has to do with playing the teams in your age division. If you can't compete, WORK HARDER TO GET BETTER.......you can't make a new age group because the older teams are thumping you. Ego's have nothing to do with it, teaching winning or losing is a important lesson for the girls, they can't win all the time. No matter how bad some like to make them think there are no losers...there are.

Your arguement is the epitomie of what is wrong with the sport today. Can't compete....we'll make a new age division for you, don't worry about improving. Really, you need to get a clue.

Some 12 year old girls are on 11u teams because of their birth date.

Makes a lot of teams happy... those girls are the REAL happy birthdates for coaches... :yahoo: Just like a 12u team having a 13 year old girl because of her birthdate. Actually there are some teams out there that look for that !!!! and say "Sweet" .
