12u ASA/USA in Indiana

Our team had a berth from states. We went to eastern nationals wo subs...same ten that we rode all year and won. Not enough pitching this year to go to the show. But got our bid for next year! Go Ohio storm and Slam! We are rooting for you!!!

Yes. Great team in swat. The Ohio Emeralds put it together to win bracket play. They had Five championships this season earning 3 bids to eastern and 2 bids to Bloomington. Winning a national championship against great teams from Penn, new York, and Ohio in the same place(Marion) where they started together was amazing. Topp team all year...shoestring catches...double plays. Good team

Storm lost 2-0 to Atl Vipers. in the WB round of 16 . They Play Team Mizuno Impluse at 2pm.
Grand slam won their opener in the WB , then won 2 games in the LB before losing to the Tn Worth Hustle to finish bracket play at 3-2 .

On behalf of Ohio Storm 01, thank you for the kind words. Ohio teams had a great week at ASA/USA. If I'm not mistaken Ohio had two teams finish in the top 20. Congratulations to all the teams that attended.

Congrats to all of the Ohio teams that earned a berth to attend the 12U ASA/USA "A" Nats. Ohio was represented well and the softball in our state is healthy. Congrats to the Ohio Storm for going so far...was nice meeting you guys!

Ohio teams represented at the eastern national as we'll. top 4 teams were from ohio and there were quite a few out of state teams as someone said before in this post. New York, Michigan, penn, west va, I'm sure I missed a couple more. I coach cincy swat 01 team and we finished 2nd and I'm wondering who I should reach out to to find out if 2nd gets a birth for next year?? A couple coaches who were there said they thought they were giving away 2 berths. Who should I contact ? Also what are the chances we get in gapps,lasers,stingrays etc. in the future? We are a single team, no organization attached. We were offered a chance to play for a well known org. And are up in the air arill on that decision. We have a good thing going now but our goal is to play at least a couple of these tournaments in the future. We have a very solid resume. Winning a lot and 2nd a few times including eastern nationals.what do you think??

No doubt that the Swat is a balanced and outstanding squad. IMHO your Team is certainly in the 'one of the best teams in Ohio' conversation. I know you fought through some injuries this year and I am glad you bounced back with a great showing at the Eastern Nationals. Your Girls would be an asset to any Org. Congrats on a tremendous year.

Dragonbunt...I don't think that it is imperative for you to be a part of an organization to do the things you are talking about...you are making a good name on your own! It really comes down to strength of schedule, how your team performs, whether or not you made nationals, which one it was and your performance there. You have met all of the criteria from what I can see but as a 13U team it now becomes the battle of being on the younger side in the age group next season. I remember when I started out and the way that our teams earned their way into things was by proving ourselves. It wasn't the name that got us there but our name became known because of what we did on the field. Honestly, most "seasoned" travel parents aren't drawn to the "org name" but rather it is towards a specific team or coach. History is a good thing because past performance is a great indicator of future performance. Having integrity in what you represent to a TD at an invite only event concerning what your team truly is remains paramount. If a team isn't honest and shows up with a team unlike what it was billed to be wont likely be invited back. It is not to say that you have to go and win the thing as injuries or a bad weekend happens to us all...trust me I know...lol. TD's know a quality team that has a bad weekend/injuries from a team that doesn't belong there. Just keep doing what you are doing and it will all work out for you guys.

Thanks for the advice and your opinion. We respect your opinion and honestly this website and the people that come here are a big help. Another thing is that we are fortunate to live in ohio. There are so many talented teams and good coaches In ohio at 12u the 00's,01's and 02's are really what we know and what we see and in my opinion ohio is loaded at these ages. I'd like to hear other opinions on this . Am I wrong? For example the top 10 to 15 rankings change so much throughout the year because there are so many good/great teams. They are all so close talent wise that it really is whoever is hot at that particular tournament wins that weekend. Then you go to somewhere like eastern nationals and you're just thankful to be playing someone not from ohio because you know the ohio teams are so strong. Lol seriously tho! I do realize when you're a 1st year team 11u,13u etc. that these will be our toughest years. But they def prepare you to battle it out the following year when you're a 2nd year team. Good luck to everyone at tryouts etc. and congrats on your seasons that just wrapped up. We are looking fwd to seeing everyone next year and maybe a couple this fall.

Yes I think we are fortunate to live in Ohio! Could be a lot worse, that's for sure!
