Lasers Orange went 4-1 at Firefighters. Our pitching and defense was strong all weekend only giving up 7 runs all weekend (5 in our loss). Our bats were on fire Saturday, but not so much Sunday.

Finesse Munoz played in the Firefighters Memorial Tournament this pst weekend. We went 3-1, losing to Ohio Stingrays 6-5 who were the champions in the tournament! Great jobs Stingrays!!

[Finesse Fastpitch- Musser]

Finesse- Musser was at Firefighters this weekend going 3-0 in pool play and scoring like crazy before coming back at 8am Sunday and being Ice Cold with our bats against Finesse-Davis and heading home early. We are now 39-25-2 on the season. We are off this weekend before resuming play at the D1 Super Select in Canfield In 2 weekends! Congrats again to 08Rays for winning a big 1! My personal voting this weekend will 100% reflect being at firefighters, making the top bracket, and how deep you played into it.

OE09 played at Firefighters’s Memorial event going 3-2 and T9 in the upper bracket. We gave IMG Moore all they could handle in a 5-0 bracket loss, which they got a late 3 run-homer to win. There was a lot of great ball played and teams in attendance. I felt like this was a one of our best performances to date. I didn’t get to see a lot of games, but I saw that Stingrays 08, Thunder Elite Vogan, Lasers Orange and Finesse Munoz all played great. We played Munoz in pool play and his team was solid top to bottom and caused our girls to speed up their play to a new level! Congrats coach! The 09 teams put on a great show, Bev Bandits came in T3 and Lasers Black battled them to a 9-9 tie in pool play!! It was a great showing for Ohio softball this week.

Funny game sometimes as we back ourselves into a corner looking like a silver bracket weekend for us with a 1-1-1 record, and then with some help we
get a chance for the Gold bracket. We make the most of our chance and finish T3 with 48 teams attending the tourney. Revenged a previous loss from last weekend to Shockwaves 09 in Round of 32, beat Ohio Storm 08 in the Sweet 16, Beat IMG 08 B/G in the Elite 8 and loss in the Final Four to Mojo 2027. Bittersweet to lose to TN Mojo 2027 who we had beat 3 times previously, but they are well-coached and have great hitters. Congrats to Ohio Stingrays 08 on their no doubt Championship! Probably won't see many of these teams again until 14U. Good luck in your season ending Tournaments guys, yes even you Munoz, Good Luck!

***Although I don't usually comment, I was impressed with 3 additional teams that I was not familiar with previously. Wizards Gold, Mid Ohio Bullets and USSSA Pride Navy were extremely well coached good teams. The USSSA Navy team went 7-0 and defeated an excellent Cobras 08 team in the finals.

We finished as a 1 seed, defeating Outlaws Trbovich (5-3) and Akron Racers 08 (8-1) in pool play. We lost to Thunder Elite-Slyvester 4-0 in our first game.
In bracket play we defeated Finesse-Kubacki (15-2); and Emeralds 09 (11-3); We lost the championship (7-6) to Silver Creek Prospects 08 (PA Team)

[Lasers Black 09]

Lasers Black 09 went 2-2-1 @ the FF Memorial. In elimination, up 6-4 in the final inning, 2 outs and only 1 runner on against Buckeye Elite 08, the team made some uncharacteristic and costly mistakes which ended our run one game short of the semifinals.

Despite that, the growth and improvement this team continues to show each weekend has been fun to watch. We couldn't be more proud!
We faced some tough pitchers in a few of our games, and how our young team responded was impressive as they racked up almost 60 Hits in 5 games. As well turned two 6-4-3 double plays Sunday!

Our highlight game was our game vs Beverly Bandits 09 team. Nothing but respect for that team and their coaches. You will need your best game or you stand no chance. They jumped out to an early 5-1 lead however the Lasers battled back, and took the lead at one point 9-7 before the game ended in a 9-9 tie.

The Ohio Storm 08 played at Firefighters as well. The team went 3-1 for the weekend, went 3-0 in pool play getting the #1 seed out of our pool. For the tournament, the team hit the ball extremely well, outhitting opponents 43-12, and outscoring opponents 44-9. On Sunday, the team held Bailey's Bandits to 4 hits, but the defense collapsed, as it allowed the Bandits to score 6 unearned runs, and take a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the last inning. After a poor game defensively, the Storm offense scored 5 runs to cut the lead to 6-5, had runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs, with a chance to tie or win the game, but was unable to get it done. Proud of our team for not giving up and fighting back. Jaylin Turner did an awesome job, and the Bandits catcher also did a great job having no passed balls, that could have allowed the tying run to score. The Storm will be in Ashland this coming weekend and will play in the 14U, and then will be headed to Lasers tournament the following weekend. This team will be fine, because of Covid-19, injuries and middle school ball, we've only played 17 games since October . Congratulations to Jodi, Chad, Mark and the Stingrays on a great tournament win.
