12U Showcase Team??????

What is even funnier is that in the 6 years until those kids are college eligible, that coach will more than likely be long gone from the school they are at today.

I have been Coaching now for 19 years. So I'm a little old and maybe I'm just not up with the times. But this weekend at Heatin' It Up. There was a Coach from Club "M" in the stands informing parents, that he was taking a 12U Showcase Team in another organization. Coaches move all the time so that is not an issue nor that he was recruiting for next year. But what caught my interest is the label "12U Showcase Team". Can anyone help me understand for who 12U's Showcase for?

Brother, I hear ya loud and clear! I lost a player to a 12u "College Showcase" team a week before the season started. I won't sell out the name of the organization who touted (but well-known) and I had to laugh. Sunshine was being pumped hard and heavy. ;-)

Kavin - there is an organization "just up the road" <wink, wink> that is starting a 12u showcase team. I know a catcher that signed with them. I guess we can Coach Candarea (sp?) to be flying into CVG any day... ROTFL!!!

What a joke....a 12u showcase team!! The sad thing is, some of the newbies are going to buy into it because they don't know any better. They are going to walk around telling everyone their dd is on a 12u showcase team while everyone snickers behind their back.

NOTE TO ALL NEWBIES TO TRAVEL BALL: There are NO showcase teams under 16u regardless of what any coach tells you. And if you pay over $700 for a 10u team (and that is if they are really good and travel all year), you are getting the shaft!!!

You should look to Ford for a corporate sponsorship. You could call them the Galaxy 500's. They could wear throwback uniforms.
