Come on TD - Little to no effort was put into this tournament...at least put some time in to the scores! It's not like you haven't had all day.

Got to love a tournament where a team that was 0-3 in pool play and never scored a run finishes second...

liv4, I don't believe a team 0 for 3 in pool play was second place. If the roadrunners were 3 and 0 and only allowed 2 runs and the lasers went 3 and 0 and didn't give up a run. That sound like 1st and 2nd to me. Maybe there was a team with a better record, I don't know.

Unfortunately do to the coin flip, an 0-3 team did finish second and get a WS berth.

Why is it that these tournaments are going to a coin toss for placement? Why don't they go by pool play record and head to head with teams that have the same record going to the runs allowed etc.

It doesn't seem right for a team that did not have a good weekend to end up with a berth to nationals.

This seems impossible. Why was the coin flip called into use. What was the first tie breaker? Did they play through a bracket after pool play? Enlighten those of us that weren't there. This just seems bizaar.

No games played on Sunday at all. ?Coin toss per TD first thing in the morning. ?Didn't even give some coaches time to get there >

Correct me if I am wrong, berths cannot be decided by a flip of the coin. Records first, then whether or not you already have berth. Trophies and places are, but not berths, I don't believe you can do that. Did anyone show up for the flip? It already sounds like this tournament was a fiasco, now they are awarding berths based on coin flips.

I think there are people jumping to assumption on coin flips to award berths. We played in this tournament and that did not happen. I was present at the coin flips. Berths got awarded to teams in pool play that went 3 and 0, they were then passed down a team that went 2 and 1 and allowed least number of runs, etc. The only thing anyone got out of the coin flip was the first place trophy(woo hoo). Yes, I hate coin flips to. I wish awards would be made based on pool play with tie breakers in place and coins flips as an absolute last resort.
It is disapointing and frustrating to all of us that we can't get our tournaments in due to the lousy weather we have been dealt thus far this spring.

That even makes less sense. It sounds like a coin flip wasn't even needed. Also, remember the trophies are not for us adults and most 12 year old girls still like to get hardware. Say what you will about cheapo trophies and medals and such, but it is awful hard for kids to not smile at the throphy ceremony. And that's what it's all about, right?
