Don't think anyone can say that either team is decisively better than the other. But while the Slammers have appeared invincible at 14u, Lasers Red proved that they are NOT ... and also proved that they belong in the conversation regarding the best 14u team in Ohio, perhaps the Midwest. This is not to take anything away from the Slammers, I would not bet against them, but I wouldn't bet the Ponderosa on them against Lasers Red either, as I probably would have BEFORE this weekend.
Two great teams, who played close games, about as close as it can get. Getting two wins "on the field" trumps all else though, at least for the moment. Most "respect" a worthy competitor, and also know that tomorrow is another day, that can be different. A good competitor acknowledges "the most recent history" with a tip o' the hat to the victor, and patiently awaits an opportunity to "reconcile" .... how about in the ASA Final in a few weeks? Data points on the learning curve.
It's all good - two GREAT teams at the pinnacle of 14u, with a debate over who is a micro-hair better. And, there are others out there that would enjoy the opportunity to play either of them also. Just a game.
