FINAL RESULTS

Champions: Ohio Wave (Rosinski) Undefeated on the weekend

Runner-Up: Ohio Wave (Fletcher) Played 4 straight on Sunday to get the Championship Game

3rd Place: Marion Diamonds (Slob) Lost in the Winners Bracket final.

Thanks to everyone who participated. The weather held out for th most part with about 1" of rain on saturday afternoon. We lost about 1 hour and 45 minutes but still got the entire saturday schedule in full. Sunday went off as scheduled.

Marions Diamonds are a very nice team that hits well and is well coached. They were a handful. Also nice job by the Southern Fury, and Extreme as we got to see both of those teams and they have some nice players.

Finally that was the first time that we had to face our sister team this season and I hope that it is the last. We always joked with eachother that we hoped to meet in the final game some weekend and while we came close last weekend, we were able to pull it off this time. The results may have been different if they were fresh. However, I am in no hurry to find out.

Good luck to everyone next weekend, and for the rest of the season. We are off until GAPPS and we are looking forward to the break.

Re: 14U ?WORTH - Ohio Wave Fastpitch Classic

At least there were 14 teams in the tournament (not Four) and the games were played and won! What are they suppose to do, bow out and lose? The same team finished 5th in the USSSA World Series. I have a feeling they may win a few tournamaents.

Don't you get it? Even if they finish 2nd,3rd, or 4th in tournaments like gapps and other fine quality tournaments, they still come out winners and look what it does for the program and the schools these girls play for. It no mistake that Greenville in a fierce competitor and are always playing late into May and June.

Figured we'd hear some comments like Vipers' after winning the top two spots, but it is what it is. ?:p Both teams had to play each game in front of them each day, Rosinski's team just took the quicker route via the winners bracket :). ?The Fletcher team (who fell in the losers bracket after one game) had to beat two of the same fine teams that the Rosinski team sent to in the losers bracket to even make it to the championship game. ?As for having to play our sister team, it's something we had wanted to do, but alas, when you take the long way to the championship game, you may not have enough gas to get the job done. ?Rich is right, we had joked about meeting each other in a championship game sometime this season, but it wasn't as much fun as we had imagined. ?It was emotional for many of our girls (lots of friendships there) and as he said, we certainly weren't "fresh". ?Our girls played their hearts out all day long winning 4 back to back games on Sunday and we couldn't be prouder of them! ?Congrats to Rich's team, they also played hard and did what they needed to do to be in that final game!

We would like to say thank you to the Doom '94 coaches and their parents for being so helpful and concerned when two of our players were injured. ?I can't say enough about how classy they were, helping us out with ice and a cold rag and showing genuine concern for their well being.....and what a team! ?:) ?BTW...they are both fine.

The Marion Diamonds-Slob team was also a great team. ?Well coached and talented players, who played a great game and showed fine sportsmanship. ?Good luck to you the rest of the summer.

We played the Southern Fury twice, eaching taking one game, our win just happened to be in bracket play. ?They are also a well coached team with talented players. ?Good luck to you.

All in all, the Fletcher team went 7-3 for the weekend (1-1 pool play, 6-2 in bracket). ?
Pool: ?beat Dayton Flyers, lost to Doom '94
Bracket: lost to Southern Fury, beat Ohio Hawks, beat Doom '94, beat South Charleston Sparks, beat Southern Fury, beat Ohio Heat, beat Marion Diamonds, lost Wave- Rosinski

Home field advantage or no field advantage. The Wave organization is talent through and through. These girls are nothing but talent and can play in any tournament and bring home the hardware. The Viper guy seems to go after anyone that wins their own tournament. I have heard of it before. But congrats Rich and the Wave girls to another tournament well played and well won. For someone to imply that this team won their own tournament for any other reason than just true talent is just a jealous 'lil snake, I mean Viper. ?;D

Woo WOo WOOOOW. Nobody is saying anything BAD about the situation!!!!! Did not mean to hit any nerves, just thought is was kinda funny. I know Mr. Rich and he does have a very talented team ( no statement ever said different). Like I said before, good luck in all other tourneys. So I hope that people that took it in the wrong way can go on with their week and get ready for the weekend ;)

Congrats to the Wave Organization! There were some good teams at this tournament and the Marion Diamonds (SLOB) were very solid. We had to play them and they were class acts.

Vipers, no offense taken. I think that it may have just been misunderstood.

The entire Ohio Wave Organization was pleased to host over 40 teams from all over Ohio, Indiana, and even from ILL to this tournament. We are proud to put on a quality event and we make no bones about all of our teams trying just a little harder to make it to the final game. Home field advantage? maybe, but I can tell you that we had umpires from Beavercreek, Cincinnati, and Springfield do games here as well as umpires from all over the Miami Valley. When you have over 140 games on the weekend and run 10 diamonds at the same time it takes a good pool of umpires from all over. Not that that was implied, I just wanted to make the point.

I did not see all of the age groups as we had our hands full with the 14U brcket but I can comment on the teams that we played and watched.

Marion Diamonds (Slob): Solid team that can play with anyone. They finished 4th at Toledo (out of 30 teams) and they had a 4-1 record last weekend at the Capitol City ASA tournament.

Southern Ohio Fury: This is a very good team as well. It took our best effort to beat them. They finished 4th at the USSSA state tournament few weeks earlier. Solid team.

Ohio Wave (Fletcher): This team has had a very good season. They went 4-1 last weekend at the Capitol City tournament missing the Championship game by one or two runs allowed. They finished 8th at Toledo (out of 30 teams) and of course they played 5 straight games on Sunday to get to the Championship game. Solid effort and nothing was given.

Our team: We are happy to play anyone. Our kids just love to play and they are normally pretty competitiive. They are 40 - 3 on the season and two of those losses came in Championship games (one was a what if game) and they lost to the better team. Finishes include (2nd Greenville Early Bird, 3rd Toledo Tune-Up (undefeated) 2nd at USSSA State, Capitol City ASA (undefeated), 1st WORTH-Ohio Wave. With upcoming tournaments at GAPPS, Stingrays, and a 16U event we look forward to seeing some more excellent teams game in and game out. With a team made up of 8 first year 14U players and 4 second year 14U players ( all three pitchers are first year players) we just hope to be able to give our opponents a solid effort every time out.

By the way we are looking for a couple teams that are interested in doing a 4 team scrimmage on Tuesday July 1st or Wed July 2nd. Could be 14U or 16U. If interested please contact me via e-mail and we will set something up.

Thanks,

Rich

We are flexible. We could hold it here in Greenville, or maybe if we could get the Valley Storm involved we could hold it in Tipp City. That would be somewhat central for all of us. If we can get a few more teams then that would even be better.

Let me know.

Re: 14U ?WORTH - Ohio Wave Fastpitch Classic

I would like to congratulate Wave ( Rosinski ) on the tournament win. This team is solid and can bring home hardware in every tourney they play in. Great group to be around and the night out was fun - thanks Rich.

Ohio Wave ( Fletcher ) very nice team as well. Congrats on getting to the finals, your team never gave up and they deserved to be in the finals. Goodluck the rest of the year.

As for us ( Ohio Heat Fury ) I would like to say we had a good weekend over all - just ran out of gas with nine players for 8 games going 6-2 for the weekend with a #2 seed. Don't really know how a #2 seed had to play 5 games in one day but it is what it is. I would also say that the Southern Ohio Fury is a very solid team as well, they will be in the final game alot as well - nice team, coaches and parents. Ofc Explosion was also a nice team and the Lady Charmers attitudes was the best, players, parents and coaches. I wish them goodluck all year and I hope your pitchers leg is doing well.

I must say that this is the first time I have had two umpires in back to back games with two different sets of rules. One game we could pinch run and the next we could not. I have never been and will never be a TD but from a coaches point of view I would think there would be a meeting before the tournament with the TD and umpires so everyone is on the same page.

The TD of this tournament has to be pleased with the out come of the final games. I know in 14u final play it was Wave against Wave and in 16u final game it was Wave against Danger ( Roberts ). As the Greenville High Coach he must be lovin what he has coming. Goodluck Jared - I think all will be well for you for many years coming.

Re: 14U ?WORTH - Ohio Wave Fastpitch Classic

If you check all previous posts Vipers have always had the highest respect for the Greenville program. Classy organization and come to play! Only teams this Viper bashes are those who try to steal girls on other teams...the rest of it I figure is all about trying to win softball games. If you check our schedule....USSSA States in Beavercreek. Heatin It Up, Smokey Mountain Challenge (more for team comradarie), Urbana NSA Qualifier, Slam into Summer, NSA States, Troy Lady Liberty, and NSA Nationals...doesn't look like we are ducking anybody. For anyone to insinuate differently is ridiculous. Fact is we play the southern teams quite a bit and hoped some of the top Columbus teams would play Urbana when we signed up to play there over the winter. Have not played a tourney yet with only 4 teams so have no idea what Mr Herman is talking about.
Again highest respect for the Greenville program and hope they do well the rest of the summer.
