That's one more than I have received for the 14U poll so far.
I run-ruled NEO Phoenix in the losers bracket
Technically, not a run rule unless you were playing nine innings. The score ended up 8-0. This was at the end of 7 innings. You did win. You are a very good team. However, I think we beat ourselves more than you beat us. Those 2 unforced errors in the 2nd inning and make them outs as they should have been and we are out of that inning still 0-0 This would then take us to the 7th inning 1-0 you. We then gave up 4 runs with 2 outs. Granted you won as you scored and we didn't, but to say you run ruled us doesn't reflect the game as played. We went 3-2 for the weekend. Losing to a very good Mad Dog team 3-2 and losing to Buckeye Heat Mason 8-0.

But still a pretty convincing win.
Unfortunately, we all know that breaks early on can turn a close game into a route, but that's what often separates talented teams from winning teams. Winning teams minimize these mistakes so that the game stays in hand.

Exactly. Just looked at some tournaments they have been in for the most part well
below average talent. To be considered a big dog you gotta run with them
Chain just won the Lady Spartan ASA qualifier this past weekend. Are you saying that NONE of the teams they play are any good? I'm pretty sure they could go toe to toe with a lot of the "Big Dogs"! I'm equally as sure that the "below average" teams you speak of might be slighted offended!!
REALLY not meant to offend just the facts.
Lady Spartan Teams
16U (CLOSED)
1. Lady Spartans
2. Cyclones Fastpitch
3. Sunraze-Black

It seems to me that the only teams considerd to be "Big Dogs" come from Columbus or Cincinatti.....
Don't forget the 16u Southern Ohio Cyclones, going 4-0 in pool play at Buckeye Showdown and #1 seed in their pool
I'm sure their were only "Big Dog" teams there, right? ;&
Shelley,
Here is my perspective on it. Last year our Outlaws 14U was a pretty good team and we had much success in the tournaments we played in winning many of them. We also played in NSA A World Series and finished a strong 5th. We never made the list or got any votes last year.
When we went into this year our focus was on a schedule playing in all the toughest events we could. We applied for some of the invitationals and didn't get in one or two (because of our lack of ASA/USA qualifiers and ASA States). The reason is because in Ohio, you really need to be playing the ASA/USA qualifiers, ASA States and get in as many of the (higher profile) Invitationals that you can. I can say, just about every weekend has been a meatgrinder this year playing that type of schedule. This is where you are going to get the recognition from the coaches in that pole. We see most all of these teams in the Top 10 every weekend.
Not sure exactly what WW Will by his comments, but, there are some good teams in tournaments like the Lady Spartan, but you have to play in, win and compete in the above mentioned to get the recognition. I certainly know that your team and some other teams playing in those events you mentioned are very good teams.
I would talk to your coach about going this route for next season, it will only make your kids and your team better.
Hope this helps!
