I agree MD.

It's an interesting year. We haven't seen Scarlet since Dayton but we all know they are playing at an extremely high level in 18U.

2 - 5 all have wins against each other with the exception of HOH over Doom (I don't believe HOH has beatin Doom) but again - HOH is ranked correctly, IMO.

The 6 - 10 is also very solid but I'm a bit surprised Lasers Silver isn't ranked higher. I believe they finished 5th this past weekend and actually beat a couple of teams in the 8 - 10 spot. Either way, it doesn't matter. I'm sure Jeff isn't worried about rankings with Strongsville on the horizon.

This last qualifier should be a a real treat. There are some MAJOR players in the 95' ranks looking to steal this last berth. Can they handle the pressuer the older more mature teams dole out? We'll see!

IMO, I look for Buckeye Heat 94' to finally make it happen this weekend. Solid club that has been close but maybe just a touch behind the top 1 - 7 teams. With none of those present this weekend, I really think they can get it done.

Beware of the blind draw though. That could cause fits for some teams.

Run26,

You have some good "takes" on all this. Kinda wish we were in the Strongsville qualifier, just to watch the action up close. Some REALLY good teams in a horse race for the final (?) ASA bid? This looks like a very good and interesting tournament. Haven't seen the Heat teams up close (oddly), but know they are really good. I know first hand that Championship Fastpitch, Maddogs, Ice Black, and the Outlaws are really good and are trouble when they put it together and get rolling. Lasers silver could be trouble if the roadrunners at the top are setting the tables for the meaty bats in the middle. Plus lots of other good young teams. Probably gonna come down to who just simply "puts it together" THIS week, game to game for 21 outs ....... so many deserving teams.

Good luck to all!!!

Agree with all above comments. Laser Silver get back their #1 pitcher this weekend. They have a really deep hitting lineup also. We split with Buckeye Heat 94 and they are very good team. Buckeye Heat 95 is good also and they can beat anyone if they put it together. Valley Extreme teams are always good. Mad dogs are a good team - played them in Shreve. And I know that we have to play well everytime out to beat any team so like most teams out there this wkd, we have to bring 100% everytime out.

Good luck to everyone.

I would like to see all the team's W/L records that make it on the list. Is that possible?

Might mean more to see who they play more than W - L record. We have played 12 games against teams on this list. That just helps you get better.

I agree. Was hoping to get to play HOH this past weekend to see where we stack up with them. Thought they looked very good from the games I saw.
I know we aren't to the level of Lasers Scarlet as they drubbed us pretty good, and Silver beat us by a run late. I know Buckeye Heat 94 wasn't full strength when we got them by a run in the Dayton Metro in early June, but we will take a win of that caliber anytime we can get it.
It just seems like it is hard to get an invitation to the bigger tournaments. Not sure what it takes. So, what does it take?

I would think that getting an invite to the bigger tournies is a combo of results from the prior year or fall and the schedule you play. For example all the asa national qualifiers are open to everyone. Go there and play the best, get a few quality wins and then base your application on that.

CP

HOH - played them 4 times this year - 1-3
Buckeye Heat 94 - played them 2 times this year 1-1
Buckeye Heat 95 - played them 2 times this year 2-0
Saphires - played them 2 times this year 0-2 - one in ITB
Mad dogs - played them once this year 0-1
Stingrays 94 - played them once this year 1-0
Ice Silver - once 1-0
Ice Black - once 0-1
Miami Valley Express - played once 1-0

2nd at HOH tourney
Top 8 at Shreve?
7th at States
3rd at Toledo

Doom 0 -2 last one was a nail bitter lost 3-2
EMR94 1-0
BH 95's 2-0
Outlaws 0-1
Championship FP 1-1
Laser Silver 0-1
HoH 0-3- 1
From the above list
And as coach Murph stated, Teams are adding players or playing short. So one game is hard to judge. Teams would love to have everyone show up , but that just doesn't happen with this age group. Good example is the Doom 95, they are not the same team we beat last year. They have added some really good players to a team that was already good.

Most of these were pretty good games, a few blow outs (good and bad). Weird how some teams match up better, or types of pitchers vs certain teams.
