ASA Tournament 2008 ASA state tourney

Any idea when and where the state tourney will be in 2008? Trying to figure out a schedule for next year.

It has to be June 20th weekend or June 27th weekend or July 4th weekend. The Regional qualifier will MOST likely be the other weekend. This is just my opinion because I'm sure ASA won't go up againts Compuware or Stingrays. So there really are NO other weekends.

i just got off the phone with Warren, he stated nothing set in stone, but the National Qualifer more than likey last weekend in June and the States 1st or 2nd weekend in July.... everything will be finalized in the Nov meeting. he is currently in OK City for the National meeting.

On JJ's Fast2home posted that there was a strong possibility that he would be hosting the ASA states the same weekend that his Great Lakes Tournament is run (June 20-22) in conjunction with the NFCA camp on June 19. So now with all these dates and tournaments conflicting, how does anyone plan for anything? It keeps getting tougher and tougher with so many good tournaments and so many conflicts. And to top it off, I've been told that the really good tournaments fill up fast and don't give refunds if you're accepted and then try to cancel.

The Lady Bear Classic, in Strongsville, says that it is an USA/ASA National Qualifier, for 18U and 16U.

We played in this tournament a couple years ago and I think it has always been a National qualifier for 16u and 18u and a qualifier for Eastern Nationals for the younger age groups.

This is most likely the Cleveland metro ASA national bid.

I emailed Steve, the TD, and he said it's a qualifier for any team in Region 10, but I believe he meant Region 9 since 10 is Cincy, KY and that general area.

I think many coaches and tournament directors received an email from Warren Jones, the ASA Ohio State Commissioner, that stated "The bid process is due on Nov 14".

NO ASA tournaments, in ANY age group, have been awarded to ANY person, team, organization until Sunday November 18. It also said in that email that they "plan" to stay away from the July 4,5,6, 2008 weekend. It also said, depending on when the person making the bid wants to hold the tournament. He did give dates that he would like them to be.

ASA States will most likely be June 20, 21, 22, or June 27, 28, 29.

ASA Regional Qualifier will most likely be on the other date that the State Tournament is no or the July 11,12,13 or July 19,20, 21.

There is also a qualifing tournament that can be bid on on ANY of those dates as well.

So basically there are 3 different chance for teams to qualify to go to ASA Nationals. Maybe 4 if you count the Metro qualifiers as well. That was my take on the email.

ALSO in the email about 2 weeks after the NOV. 18 meeting they will meet again and post the tournaments for the 2009 season so this stuff won't happen again. He wants to always be 1 year ahead, so people can plan out summer schedules.

The total # of bids all depend on the total # of teams that register with ASA. That is how they decide the # of bids that get to be handed out each year. If I understand what Warren has explained to me in the past.

This is the best news i have heard in a while, ASA staying away from our July 4-6. Maybe ASA is listening to us. I can't control NSA, but I think our venue is second to none that weekend. JMHO

Mike, I would much rather play at Gapss than NSA States but with Nationals in our back yard teams have some serious decisions to make. Our is one of them. This would make my 6th year at your tourney and I can not imagime not being there. This sucks...........

The meeting will take place today. I guess ALL bids had to be delivered by the 14th. We should know soon I would think. Either today or the next few days.

Defiance will agian be Hosting the U-14 tournament looks like the dates are June 20,21,22 ?We are proud to be able to host this tournament for the 4th straight year.
