With the way the weekends fall this year in June we are moving the Best of the Best Showcase this year to July 4, 5, 6, 2008. More information will follow as soon as I can secure all fields. You will be able to download 2008 entry forms from our website (I hoping by the end of October) you can go to ?www.eteamz.com/ohiowolfpack/ then hit 2008 Best of the Best or go to handouts at the top of the page.

We are planning to tweak the format just a bit for this year. We may also add a 16U division and have the 18U division like in the past. If we don't add a seperate division for 16U this year they may still send in an entry form and go through the tournament entry process. Remember we are trying to find the "BEST" teams that APPLY for the showcase! This has been a very good tournament the past few years and has drawn some very good talent along with college exposure.

I will post again as soon as ALL fields and paperwork have been secured. Best of luck to everyone this coming 2008 season!!

All fields have now been secured and you can now start the entry process for the 2008 Best of the Best Summer Showcase.

1. To download 2008 Showcase Information click on the silver tab in the 2nd row 4th colum [highlight](HANDOUTS)[/highlight]
After clicking the HANDOUTS tab scroll down to the bottom of the page to ([highlight]MORE HANDOUTS[/highlight]) and click on the [highlight]Best O. Best Sum. Showcase[/highlight]
Now scroll down, you should see 4 items to download.

1st item is a Parent Waiver (which is a Liability Form for the City of Massillon) This form [highlight]MUST [/highlight]be filled out and brought back with you to the tournament and turned in at Check-In.

2nd item is the 2008 Summer Showcase Entry Form and Showcase Rules.

3rd item is a Visiting Team Directory. This download has showcase contact information, hotel information, places to eat, and direction to Genshaft Park in Massillon, OH.

4th item is a sample Roster Form. This form is to be used for the college coaches packet that will be handed out to ALL college coaches that come recruit this showcase.

If you have any problems downloading the information please email me and I will do my best to email you ALL the necessary information to enter the 2008 Best of the Best Summer Showcase.

Any 16U or 18U Team may enter the 2008 Best of the Best Summer Showcase. The showcase will be held at 2801 Erie Street at Genshaft Park, in Massillon, Ohio 44646. 16U & 18U teams will play each other. There will be NO separate age groups. This is primarily an 18U Showcase that will consider 16U teams to play up if selected through the entry process.

The pitching rubber will be set for ALL games at [highlight]43 feet[/highlight].

[highlight]SHOWCASE FORMAT:[/highlight]

Teams will play 6 pool games and a single elimination tournament. We will guarantee 7 games (weather permitting).
On Friday, 7/4/08, (3 pool games) starting at 9:00am - 5:45pm.
On Saturday, 7/5/08, (3 pool games) starting at 9:00am - 5:45pm. Saturday evening ALL teams will be placed onto a single elimination bracket with the first elimination game starting Sunday at 9:00am.
Championship play will begin at 9:00am Sunday 7/6/08, Championship game is scheduled to start at 6:00pm.

ALL POOL GAMES WILL BE 1 HOUR & 30 MINUTES.
No NEW inning will start after 1 hour and 25 minutes. (Finish the inning) - (weather permitting).
During pool play if tied after 7 or 1 ? hr time limit has expired the game will end a tie.

On Sunday all games will be 7 innings or until we have a winner (after 7 innings if tied we will go to the ASA ITB).

If the tournament is totally rained out, refunds will be based on:
Sign-up fees minus Tournament Costs.
All other refunds will be: Sign-up fees minus tournament costs minus games played. That will equal your refund. (Please allow 2-4 weeks until you see a refund).
NO awards will be handed out if rained out.

1. All birth certificates (copies are ok) If questioned MUST provide immediately

2. Parental Waiver Release of Liability Indemnification and Consent Form (This is one form covers all of the above) (Turn in at Check-in)

3. ASA sanction number (Show at check-in)

Best of the Best Summer Showcase

[highlight]Tournament Rules[/highlight]

1. This tournament will be an ASA sanctioned tournament. We will play by the ASA book rules and use ASA Umpires. (Exceptions) for pool play on July 4 & July 5, 2008, we will have the following rules:

A. Play 7 full innings unless time expires
B. No new inning will begin after 1 hour and 25 minutes has expired (will finish the inning)
C. Time limit of 1 hour and 30 minutes (if tied game ends in a tie, pool play only)
D. Free defensive substitution
E. Continuous batting order (If you want to use it) (ex. if the game starts with 12 players you must finish with 12 or take outs if a player gets hurt or has to leave)


2. ALL teams MUST be ready to play 30 minutes prior to official scheduled starting times. Your team MUST be able to take the field 30 minutes prior to game time if games are running ahead of schedule. Your team will record a forfeit if your team is not on the field ready to play at the correct times. Updates will be posted as to which fields are on time, ahead of time, or behind time.

3. Warm-Ups: Please use grass areas behind the temporary fence in the outfield or edges of the infield when warming up. DO NOT have pitchers warm up in the spectator seating area at ANY time. NO FULL INFIELD WARM-UPS AT ANYTIME. Catchers MUST wear mask when warming up pitchers.

4. Insurance: All teams must carry their own insurance

5. Birth Certificates: All teams must provide proof of age (copy is fine)

6. Single Elimination Seeding: 1. Best overall record ?2. Head to Head record 3. Defensive runs permitted ?4. Total runs scored. 5. Coin Toss

7. Protest: $100.00 All protests will be directed to Dale Hamel ? Umpire In Chief or Rick Annen ASA District #10 Representative

8. Scorekeepers: The home team shall be considered the official book. Please list names, numbers and positions on your lineup. The team listed first on the schedule will sit in the third base dugouts.

9. [highlight]BOTH TEAMS[/highlight] must report the scores upstairs immediately after the game is completed

10. Only official team personnel are permitted in the area upstairs above the concession stand.

11. [highlight]ALL [/highlight]games are subject to modified time limits at any time due to weather. IF the tournament is rained out or canceled at anytime during the course of play, there will be NO awards given.

You are encouraged to bring your own team?s media guide. There will be a room set up for college coaches and team information.

Just a reminder to teams planing to enter. We would like to have things wrapped up by the end of November or first week of December. The reason for this is to get the information out to the coaches. We want teams to know where they are playing and are able to communicate back with players, parents, and college coaches.

The Best of the Best Tournament Committee has decided to allow entries up to Saturday December 15th. The selection process will take place the week of December 16 - 22. We hope to have teams selected and notified by December 31.
