Acorn,

You didnt ruffle my feathers I am a TCL fan, and a fan of a few kids in the NLL. You said you hadnt heard of any of these teams and asked if they had been to States, I asked if 2003 counted. I assumed you meant States as in the final four. Considering everybody goes to States lol. If you hadnt heard of Anthony Wayne 2003 State Champs, or Springfield (Holland,Oh) at one time last year ranked #5 in Div 1 in the State of Ohio, and who before losing their #1 pitcher would have made a run at the final four. You have now lol ;D

Uber, acorn may have seen them listed, but assumed that is was Springfield out of the Akron area. I know from time to time there has been some confusion about this one the OFC. :-? :-?

Saved I know SV has Gates coming back, but who is the second pitcher? Who is the third one that isn't pitching? PB has a wealth of pitchers coming up too. A few of those ladies will have to give up pitching.

Michalak took the entire summer off to let the arm heal properly. She's been given clearance by the Dr. to start training. She did start her training, and by all accounts, things are going well. I think she is just shut down right now as a part of her normal training with her pitching coach. I believe she is set in her mind to be back as good if not better than before she had trouble.
I know it's easy to get all worked up about pitchers, but no game has ever been won with a score of 0 to 0

Re: 2008 NLL
Reply #16 - 09/10/07 at 7:58pm Hey Sue, No hard feelings here. PBSfan you are right, I was flying the Springfield flag. This year could very interesting. I truly believe that if Michalak is healthy she will be tough. She pitched really well prior to the injury. She beat Pinkleman(Evergreen), Szypka(Genoa), and Gill(AW). She also beat Waseon and Archbold that went to the state final four. Not a bad resume.

:'(Looking at this posting I don't see (PB) Kimmie Bryson that has been pitching all summer!! Since she is a Sophomore I don't see a light at the end of the tonal!!

You're just spoilin' for it, aren't ya ???

Look, Lady Fastpitch---I don't know if you mean for it to come across that way, but it sounds like you got a schadenfreude-thing goin' on here (look it up).

Nobody ought to be taking pleasure in a young pitcher's setback. ?If you wanna cheer for your fave girl--GREAT!!! ?(Just don't bet against someone else's)

As I stated on the NLL vs. CL event coming up. ?The pitchers from AW, Springfield, PB, and SV can control a game all on their own if they are on. ?That would be Gill, Michalak, Bryson, and Gates. ?Yes some of the teams have holes to fill, but all have had great JV players to pull from. ?I can see that any of these winning it all. ?I would go with the experience of AW to take first if I were a betting man. ?But with these four you never know. ?Time will tell. ?You know the saying on any given day. ? ;) ;)

Thunder you are right about the score. One good hit, a walk, an error, a home run, and that is easily a 1-0 win. All of these teams have pretty good offenses and one or two players that can change things with one swing of the bat. IMHO

Lady-Fastpitch...

Do you have any clue what your talkin about. ?The springfield pitcher will be back. The Dr. said there should be no adverse effects to her pitching. Matter of fact the area where she broke the bone is thicker now, the bone has more girth. She is now on a weight training routine which should help her. She will be lifting weights 3-4 days per week.

The HS coach is going to use her in a more limited basis. There is another pitcher that will eat up more innings for Springfield.

check yourself before you speak. You are talking about a 14yr who pitched 3 weeks with a bad arm. You drag your ass out on the mound and throw 80-100 pitches. She said every pitch felt as if someone was sticking a knife in her forearm. Now do it 3-4 games a week. The amazing thing was is that NO one knew accept Springfield fans. She went out and pitched and continued to win ball games and not one outsider ever questioned weather she was hurt. ?She would come off the field in tears- (AFTER THE GAME)- because she wanted to help her team. There are many and I mean MANY pitchers that never would of went out there to pitch and she did for her team. You will not find a more mentally tough pitcher around.

Well I better stop before I say somthing I would regret.

We shall see..

Yeah that is pretty much out of line to speculate on an injury that you have no facts on when it comes to a child. This isnt the NFL lol, its girls High School Fastpitch.

Also out of line to insuated that Springfields season rests on one kid, they have plenty of talent, last year they were one of the strongest offensive teams in the area, I am sure they will be strong offensively again.

This is a bit off of the subject, but who do you consider the players that will surprise some people this year in the NLL? We know who the top pitchers are, but who else should be watched?

AW - Thunder who are your surprise players? Will Kurfis make varsity? Will Skinner shine?
BG - Stalter should be tough. Hope I got the name right.
Maumee - Henry should be tough.
Rossford - ?
PB - A. Hurlstone should be tough.
Springfield - B. Richberg should be tough.
Sylvania Norhtview - B. Appardian surprise a few.
Sylvania Southview - ?

Who am I forgetting about? :-?

ANTHONY WAYNE,...I can't speak to whether or not Kurfis will make varsity or not, however, I can tell you by the Spring she would be ready. I can also tell you, there's not a better Freshman pitcher anywhere in NWO. Anthony Wayne could have as many as 7 pitchers trying out this year. Last year there were only 4. Behind Gill comes Dani Haley and Emily Kurfis. Dani and Emily are both working their tails off. It will also be interesting to see how Westenkirchner develops. This should help Gill be stronger at the end of the season.
NORTHVIEW, I also like Becca Apardian at Northview, what a great kid and hard worker. I am prejudiced towards Aly Matthews because she plays on my summer team, but she is really stepping up the work it takes to be a good pitcher. She's throwing hard, getting her control and is also a sharp little 1st baseman.
BOWLING GREEN,...just don't know where that program is going.
SPRINGFIELD,...Richberg would not be a surprise, she's already got a full year under her belt. Maybe Jess Zappone will make an impact and Krista Haley with quality innings on the mound to supplement Michalak.
PERRYSBURG,....That's the $64,000.00 question, who IS going to be the offensive weapon to replace Hegedus.
SOUTHVIEW,.... had a lefty slapper that lead off for the JV. I thought she was a real sharp ballplayer. I hope she gets a shot at varsity.
MAUMEE,....Henry, no surprise there either, already established. I"ll tell you what a surprise is,..If Maumee can replace Deagle, that will be a surprise.
ROSSFORD,....Maybe they could get a decent field to play on,...SURPRISE !! Maybe Clyde would adopt them, Great Complex !!
