Uber... can you give a run down of how the poll came together?

EX: How many entries and how the scoring works?

BlueDevilDad,

This year we have 8 voters. Last year we had 10, we lost a couple to graduation and a couple have not migrated their accounts. We have 3 new voters this year.

Teams are assigned points based on how many votes they had, their position on each ballot, bonus points for being voted #1 and bonus points for making the top 10.

Only a few teams were on all 8 ballots, and because its a pre season poll ballots and teams were all over the board. Just like last years first poll of the season. That's the reason for the high number of "others receiving votes".

My DD is in Junior High and will be attending Northview, probably. I don't see them on the list. I really don't follow them at all. So.... just wondering how they do?

Northview is solid. They have 2 good pitchers in Sayre and Matthews, a nice leadoff hitter. Depth and offense is what keeps them down a bit. They lost their best hitter to graduation (Tara Zuber) IMO. But you never know until the season what kids have been working hard. I wouldn't count them out and I know the top NLL teams bring their A games when they play them.

I think that Perrysburg and Whitmer are rated a little low. Perrysburg has Bryson, enough said. Whitmer only lost Temple and picked up a quality player. Overall, great job by everyone.

Perrysburg was the most interesting team. That was the team that was far the most all over the board team.

I think Defiance is a hard team to figure out too. They lost two seniors (position players) from a team that beat Clay and Archbold and only lost to Perryburg 1 to 0. They were beaten by Wauseon. If Defiance gets the right pitcher in the circle I think they will be a surprise. They finished 15 and 10 and hope to improve on that for 2009. A tough schedule ahead for them again playing Clay, Perrysburg, Wauseon, Napoleon, Archbold out of league, then taking on Lima Bath, St. Mary's and Celina in a tough Western Buckeye League. Cracking Uber's top ten is a goal right up there with winning the league and a deep tourney run!

If I recall last year Defiance beat Clay right before or right after they beat Lima Bath who had beaten a tough Southview
Team that been playing extremely well at the time. That opened a lot of eyes and they spent most of the year in the top 10. They have one of if not the best position players in NWO in Lindsey Tobias.

I agree they are a team to watch, last year they received no love in the preseason, this year they are just outside the top 10. So the pollsters are improving lol

I agree Defiance will be pretty good. Fostoria beat Bath 3-2 in 8 with Seel winning in relief. They will find out real quick what they are about. Genoa, Elmwood and two of these three in a doubleheader the first four games. And a Clay scrimmage preseason.

UJ, Why don't you put together a statewide poll for the divisions. I would like to be able to NOT vote for our High School. They could be beat by a good 12U team.:(:(

LOL, as you probably already learned from your travel polls the amount of heat I get in PMs is enough for me to just keep it local :lmao:
