Great game between the Venom and Finch's Aces. Saw that one go a few extras. Just left the park after an Outlaws Team Pennsylvania Gold game went 10 innings with team PA prevailing 1-0. For the 3 hours I was there today I saw 4 games go ITB! Anybody hear how the Pittsburgh Power/Central Ohio Heat game turned out?

Madness Red 2 - West Debtford Storm 1 in second round of bracket play

Let's go OHIO!

Keep it going Coaches Mark, Lauren, and Mickey. Been really hard to sit here and wait to hear how the team is doing. Glad to hear the Ohio teams are working so hard to stay alive.

Go Madness!

How can (Team name deleted) use a pitcher that played 16U ASA ?

And yes she did play in and won a championship game.

Westside, you might want to delete the team's name. There is not enough info to determine eligibility based on what is seen. Was the tournament an ASA sanctioned event or just a tournament using ASA rules? If it was an ASA sanctioned event, then did the team qualify (qualify, by ASA definition, means that the team accepted the berth.) Did the roster change happen as a "Change of teams" before the qualification or did the roster change happen as a "Pick-up Player" event? So, a little more info would be needed. But, I'll post the rules, ya'll can figure out right or wrong.

Here are the Pick-up Player rules from the ASA Code. The blue type is my interpretations and my explainations.

Article 503 PICK-UP PLAYERS.

A. General Rule. All teams are permitted to pick-up three players as follows:

01. The team adding pick-up players must select eligible roster members from ASA registered teams in the team's own local association. For example, a team registered in ASA Ohio cannot pick-up a player from a team registered in ASA Dayton

EXCEPTIONS:

a. All men's and women's fast pitch divisions, Junior Olympic Boy's Fast Pitch and Junior Olympic Gold Girls' 18-Under Fast Pitch. Pickup players may come from teams within the region that are no longer eligible for championship play. Pick-up players will not be allowed after the National Championship Finals for the National Championship Series.

b. ( Adult Only ). If two local associations combine berths and/or championship play, pick-up players may come from either local association with the approval of both commissioners.

02. Pick-up players must have played for an ASA-registered team during the current season and must have played in the division of play for which they are being picked up. In ASA, there are 29 different divisions. Girls' Fastpitch is one of those divisions.

03. Pick-up players must be selected only from ASA registered teams no longer eligible for championship play.

04. Pick-up players must be from the team's same division and the same or lower classification. Within each division, there can be several classifications. In the Girls' Fastpitch division, there are the following classifications:

18-Under GOLD
Class A
18-Under
16-Under
14-Under
12-Under
10-Under
Class B
18-Under
16-Under
14-Under
12-Under
10-Under

CLARIFICATION: In Junior Olympic play there two types of classification, one type of classification is Gold, Class A and Class B; the other type of classification is age classification, 18-Under, 16-Under, 14-Under, 12-Under and 10-Under. Therefore as an example, a player who has competed on a Junior Olympic Girls' Fast Pitch 16-Under team is not an eligible pick-up player for any team below the 16-Under age classification. Another example, once a player participates on a Class A team, they are not eligible to participate in Class B even if moving up in the age classification.

05. Players (Adult and Junior Olympics) whose teams have qualified to compete in the highest level tournaments within a classification shall not be eligible pick-up players. If the pick-up player's original team has qualified, and that means has accepted a berth, for the ASA/USA Championship, then that player is not eligible as a pick-up player.

CLARIFICATION: A player who has competed in any Junior Olympic Girls' Fast Pitch National Championship Finals is not an eligible pick-up player for any other Junior Olympic Girls' National Championship Finals.

EXCEPTION: A player who has competed in the Men's 23-Under or Women's 23-Under championship play is eligible to participate in other adult championship play during the same season as a pick-up player.

06. No player may be picked up for National Qualifiers, Junior Olympic Hall of Fame Tournaments or Territory Qualifying tournaments.

07. In adult divisions of play, a pick-up player may be substituted for after participation.

08. In Junior Olympic divisions of play, a pick-up player may not be substituted for after participation.

09. Junior Olympic GOLD and Class A players who compete on adult teams as pick-up players are only eligible to be picked up for Major or Class A teams.

10. A player may play with only one team other than their own team within a division in a season.

11. Teams adding pick-up players must submit a completed official ASA pick-up player form attached to the official roster before the team plays in the tournament.

12. Pick-up players who chose to participate in the Junior Olympic Girls' Class B program may not have participated in any college softball program.

B. Fast Pitch, Modified Pitch, and Slow Pitch Pickup Players. A player may be picked up at any level of championship play prior to the National Championship Final as follows:

01. If players are picked up prior to the local association championship, they must be governed by their local association rules.

02. If players are picked up after their local association championship, the pick up player(s) must be governed by Article 503 of the ASA Code.

C. Church Slow Pitch and Industrial Slow Pitch Teams. Teams may not pick up any player that does not meet the eligibility requirements of that division of play.

Central Ohio Heat lost a tough one yesterday to Pittsburgh Power-Frey 1-0 in bottom of the 7th. We had opportunities to score but couldn't come-up with the big hit. Pittsburgh Power-Frey is very solid team.

We won our 1st game this morning 8-0 over Vienna Stars 96 from VA.

We play again @ 2pm against West Deptford Storm from NJ.

This is the part of the asa code that kept my 96 dd from going to the 14u asa national.
"Therefore as an example, a player who has competed on a Junior Olympic Girls' Fast Pitch 16-Under team is not an eligible pick-up player for any team below the 16-Under age classification"
My 96 dd played 16u at asa sanctinoed events, then wanted to play 14u with another team of friends after her 16u team elected not to go to nationals.
After trying to find a loop hole in the asa code with local , state and national asa reps.
It was determined she is ineligable to play the asa 14u national.
Good luck to all involved.

I don't believe the player in question has played for the wolf pack at nationals. That is my understanding of the situation.

Well the wolfpack knocked us out 5-0, I did enjoy watching my daughter flip over the fence trying to steal a Homerun from #33, she just couldnt hold on. There was alot of class on the girls part, she came over after the game and congratulated my daughter on great effort!

Overall we just didn't hit, not much to say about it.

And for you Scottie, we did lose to new era as you predicted 3-0, on 2 errors. Yes we lost but we gave them hell!
