2011 Ohio Stingrays Showcase 16U Scores

16U Pools & Brackets are now posted in electronic form on the Stingrays website. You can also click on any team's name and see a listing of all the games that they play (updated automatically during bracket play).

For the first time this year, scores will be automatically posted to Twitter as well using the @StingraysTourn username and #stingraystournament hash tag. This will allow everyone another method of viewing scores as they come in without the need to load the full bracket or pool in a web browser. Follow @StingraysTourn and get updates sent directly to you.

I thought that game was Saturday. They are single elim. Bracket were suppose to start last night but OSU was on a several hour delay. I bet they had to finish pool this morning. Bet the bracket times are wrong and doesn't show the delay.
We were playing at Pickerington and didn't have a delay so we stayed on schedule and started bracket last night which is why I'm home. :-(

They cancelled the elimination bracket. Top 2 teams from each division play for the title.

Laser Scarlet v. Laser silver.

Doom, Scarlet and Indy Dreams all had 1 tie (4-0-1) (silver went 5-0), went to tie breaker (runs allowed) Scarlet wins tiebreaker, they and Dreams gave up 6, doom 7, Doom eliminated.
Scarlet wins second tiebreaker scoring 32 runs in pool play to Dreams 24.

Yep, as usual wmorrison has it right. Announcement was made on Friday that there would be five pool games and no elimination and then at some point later they decided that the top two teams in 16u would play for the Championship. Click on the "standings" link in Post 1 above to see how each team did in its pool games.

Wow, we were at Pickerington and went on as planned except we stayed at Pickerington instead of moving over to OSU Sunday.. Started bracket play Saturday night. Heard there were delays at OSU but didn't think it was that bad. Played right through the rain Friday and those fields soaked it all right up. Nice place.

Lasers Scarlet 3, Lasers Silver 2. Must have been a great game.

Thanks to the Stingrays for running yet again a great tournament. Early and effective decisions and communications regarding rain delays, fields dragged and lined every game, carts available to transport fans and players from the parking lots (and free parking this year!), super reporting of results, and modestly priced food at the concession stand. The Stingrays organization knows how to run a tournament and their volunteer families deserve many many thanks.

The two things that I would change are not within the power of the Stingrays. Namely, temporary fencing at regulation fastpitch distances and more leniency on when fields are available for play after rain.

Just a super tournament with very good attendance of college coaches.

And Casey the Wonder Dog loves those two ponds. (Fortunately the lake where she normally swims has geese and ducks so they got along fine at Beekman).
