The Ohio Ice girls from the Akron/Canton area, under Coach Mace, drove South to Cincinnati and swept the event with a 3-0 record starting with a fierce battle with the X-treme Heat team out of Pickerington area. Final score 3-1.

Their second foe, Miami Valley Express out of Dayton, gave the Ice girls another battle.

The Ice girls, dreaming of new uniforms, faced the Kentucky X-Plosion team out of Florence, Kentucky in a third round of the day which happened to be the championship game. The Ice girls rolled to a commanding lead and never looked back... driving back North with the Championship and the UNIFORMS !!!!

Congrats to the Ohio Ice 11u team for winning the Uniform Blowout.

Will post all game scores on Sunday night when the tournament is complete.

For all those not familiar with the facility that hosted this tournament, Heisler Park in Goshen (Northeast Cincinnati), I'd like to give a big thumbs up. Top notch umpires, real running water restrooms and 8 to 10 SOFTBALL fields.

Definitely put this park on your radar for next year.

As for the tournament Tim it was very well run. In this day and age, with so many organizations after your team's money, not that this is entirely bad, you ran a tournament that i'm convinced you made zero or no money. Simply put you gave all the money back to the teams through uniform and hoody credits.

It's hard to find a tournament director who puts something on for the sole purpose of wanting to watch some good fastpitch.

Don it was nice to finally meet you. Ice is a real nice team.

I agree it was a very well run event. Also it was very nice to play untimed 7 inning games. After 21 innings of back to back to back games our kids were definitely tired. All of our games were exciting with good competition. We will be back.

By the way, when's the last time it rained in Goshen?

This event is an event where I give back to the teams and my umpire crew as a season ending event.

I umpire a lot and monies I make during the season is not possible if the teams don't go to the events in Dayton/Cincinnati area... and being I have the opportunity to give back to the teams through a tournament... I have always wanted to have one tournament for the girls and their parents where maybe they can win something that they need... and the Uniform Blowout was born.

Sometimes, Dan, it's not all about making money. Sometimes it about having fun with the girls and see the winner's excitement when they win the event .

That's what makes it worth it in the long run for me. Seeing the smiles.

Been awhile since it rained in Goshen as this Fall it seems to skirt both sides of us and never gives us any rain. But, any rain just runs through these ballfields , as Goshen is known very well concerning their drainage system and their availability to get back up and running after a monsoon!!!

I think it is great park to play ball for the girls and this weekend was a great weekend for the teams to see the park that has never been to Gosehn before .. and the Goshen people do a great job with the fields in between games, etc..

Come play the Doom Madness event in June, 2011. It's the first weekend of June and always a great event.
