Wayne hit the ball well. Piqua had a few errors that hurt and then a questionable call by the ump I think put them in a funk. Either way, 1 run is not going to get it. Good luck to Joe and the ladies.

Tournament scores
Northmont 2
Centerville 0
8 innings
elks could not touch clutter tonite and when we did the clever defense setup in outfield took away 4-5 hits easily. Our defense held them to 7 scoreless innings then a few mistakes by our catcher and they score 2 unanswered runs and that's the season. Feel bad for the seniors having to go out like that on some rookie mistakes after battling so hard. Good luck to northmont and all the other gwoc teams still in it!!

What's up with that statement??? It's not like you to throw a rookie under the bus.

It is a team sport. Win as a team, lose as a team.

This was a nice game to attend. No restrooms or concession stand to get drinks for the girls until about the 5th inning. Home team puts tarp over their dugout but not visitors, nice sportsmanship there and a highschool tourney game on a mens diamond with 300' fences is special also. Why not a temp fence? Oh well, glad we won and go to Northmont to one of the finest fields around. The only nice thing about playing a tourney game at Duke Park in Troy was not having to pay to get in!!! Everything else stunk. I must say that they have a nice team though, just not their day. Goodluck next year ladies, I am sure you will make a run at state.

catcher is a sophomore with 2 years of 16u travel and made a couple rookie mistakes that she should not have and cost the most important game of the season. She will take that to bed with her and hopefully learn from it and work harder to be more reliable & consistent

Honestly, the throw was just late from the infielder. Whether the ball was dropped or not didn't really matter. I wouldn't want her to think it was her fault, or even the 3rd baseman for that matter. It was just a well executed squeeze.
Not a consolation for you guys, but I thought Centerville was much improved over last year. Your record alone indicates that. It really was a great game and, as the saying goes, it was a shame someone had to lose.
I tried to tell your coach that with the last better coming to the plate and runners on the corners. Win or lose, that was a great game and you guys really did have a great season.
Some class acts on that team.

I agree.. And the infielder put the ball into her glove before making the throw home.. Can't do that on a squeeze! I don't think the catcher had a chance on that one.

The catcher had that girl out at second, she makes that throw, that runner never makes it to third. And to throw a changeup strike to that runner (#9 batter) on an 0-2 count....mental mistakes by pitcher and catcher there allows that batter to become a runner that never should have been...just goes to show games like that can come down to just a single pitch or throw, and it did...hopefully they use it to motivate them tonight...

In all honesty, you can't win if your team doesn't score, and not scoring was a TEAM effort. It's not cool to point to one kid as the excuse for the loss when your team scored zero points. Your team had just as many innings to score runs as Northmont did, and your team failed to do so.

Back to back 1-0 wins over Solon on consecutive days, and Senior Nights for Hudson then Solon. Class act Solon, you have a solid team, good luck!

Nice job Casey Brown and the defense behind you ... with back to back squeakers against a good ball club!
