Both teams had 1 inning that cost them. Greenville's came in the 5th inning when 3 errors led to 3 runs. These were the first errors they committed in the last 3 games. Kings came in the 6th.

In the bottom of the 6th Soph Ashley Hanes started a 4 run rally with a 2 out hit to RF (her 2nd of the game). Then with the bases loaded Junior Nicole Davis blasted a ball hard up the middle that the 2nd baseman could not come up with cleanly. When the inning was over Greenville plated 4 runs and then held on in the 7th.

Kings has an excellent team and they were by far the best team that we have seen so far in the tournament. Well coached and disiplined at the plate. They deserved to be there and could have easily moved on. It was neat to see the Urbana coaches over by the Kings dugout when Kings went up 3-1. You would have thought they were their biggest fans.

The game was a milestone for Coach Newland. It was his 250th as the coach of the GreenWave. The teams record over that time is 210 & 40. Congrats !!

A leadoff HR for Piketon holds up for the victory. LU had their chances but could not push any runners across. Ms. Zimmerman did a good job of keeping the LU bats off-balance.

For our LU girls, it was a great season and now you know what you can do and build for next season.

Ellet led 3-0 until Perry tied it at 3 in the bottom of the 6th and then scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th with one out. Congrats to Morgan for leading off with a walk and scoring the game winning run with the help of her teammmates.

The only reason I would have pitched to a batter in that situation with first base open is if Ledford was on deck.........And she was the one they pitched to. WOW!

It was a tough decision. Ledford has a great reputation, but was 0-3 on the day with a K. Sounds like the pitcher wanted to go at her. I thought she would get her out the way the first few pitches went.

Her 3rd at bat was a line shot up the middle that the pitcher happened to deflect right to the 2nd baseman. She had her timed up. 10 times out of 10 I would have walked the 3 time 1st team all state player with the game on the line.............But I'm glad she didn't!

I agree.. sometimes coaches go on gut decisions that don't work out ... Madison outplayed them for 6.5 innings, then it all unravled in 2 batters... For a team with 4 starting freshmen to take it that far and to LWS for 6 1/2 in was amazing.. but great players make great plays .. I walk her too!
