It has been an emotional week for some of us as our seniors had their senior night and then played their last home game. Tonight was one of those tearful nights.
We had the privelege to witness the most incredible family reunion. There was a couple sitting in our stands before the game tonight, and I thought I would welcome them and make conversation. They shared with me that the husband was going to be able to see his daughter for the first time in 16 years.
16 years ago his ex wife moved away with his daughter, and he spent the last 16 years trying to find her. They were finally able to track her down within the last couple of weeks, and he was going to be able to meet her in person for the first time tonight at the game.
I was honored to be one of the softball family to be able to witness the tearful reunion as the two hugged each other and cried. It was one of the best softball moments of my life.
I wish father and daughter the very best. They lost 16 years, but now they have many more to spend together making up for lost time. Softball gives them something in common to share too as her dad was a baseball and softball player as well.
