I'm still laughing/shaking my head. What a bunch of absolute blockhead! I don't know who's dumber-- the NPF people or the ESPN people. How could NPF allow that embarrassment to happen to a sport that his teetering on the edge of extinction? A four-team league suffering from a lack of credibility, star-power and publicity gets a chance to be showcased on ESPN and this is the result? Get a frigging weather report. Make a plan that doesn't include the Southeast during hurricane season. It was a beautiful day in Akron. Morons. Soon-to-be-out-of-business morons.

Truly disappointing at best!! thetruth08 pretty much summed it up.... I will not go as far as calling them morons but will say that the lack of a championship sure is a slap in the face to everyone who is trying to support their respective teams. From advertising at the ballpark to spreading the word to everyone I know outside of fastpitch, I do everything I can to promote the best venue and best sport around.

Well, I'm not going to bash this. I've been to Racer games and maybe 30 girls show up at the games we've been too and it's never a packed house. The only way for this sport to grow is for us to put some coin into it during the regular season. We have how many organizations up here in the north with in an hour of the ball park? Can't these teams can't get a team night at Firestone Stadium? I'm sure NPF would put more effort if we put in more effort. It's cheaper than pro sports by a long shot. Ok, off my soapbox. :D

As for the Racers, I blame Joey! I live in the Akron area (less than 5 minutes from Firestone Stadium), and I NEVER hear anything about the Racers in the community. Just like any other business, you can't just open the doors and expect the masses to show up. As for the league, wasn't the 2011 championships held at a minor league baseball stadium? How will the general public ever take the league seriously if the league doesn't act like it's a professional league? Ultimately, if they cannot get the players salaries to a level that will support a career, they will always struggle to make a go of it.

[h=2]Comment from the Commissioner[/h]By:

To All NPF Fans and Followers...I apologize for the delay in posting a comment. I know there were many concerned fans and followers of NPF that were eager to read or hear an issued statement. As you can imagine, there were many things that begged attention in the last 48 hours and it was my priority to address players and owners before moving forward with additional duties. I deeply regret our inability to complete the Championship Series. Like all of you, I am a softball fan at heart and was eager, after seeing the first 3 days of spectacular competition showcased by our talented players, to see the final day of action unfold. I was also eager to share the experience with a worldwide audience through ESPN2. It is a great loss to our teams, players, owners, and of course all of you, the fans of professional softball, to lose our final day of competition due to rain.

Enough has been said through various media outlets about the events that unfolded and the reasoning behind the decisions. I do not plan to re-hash all or any of those details. The one thing I want to state clearly is the fact that I have no doubt in my mind that every single player on both teams competing wanted to complete the Championship Series as it was formatted in a best of three series. Any implication or interpretation that I ever thought otherwise is simply untrue. I am constantly inspired by the competitive spirit of our players, among other qualities. Further, as in any business, there is time for disgruntlement and disagreement. In spite of those occurrences, I have the utmost respect for the owners that sacrifice their time, efforts, energy, and money in pursuit of making this League a viable career option for professional softball players for generations to come.

It is important now to move forward and that is what we are doing. We recently released a statement regarding the formation of a committee to review Championship Series policies to avoid any situations similar to this in the future. We have also issued a statement regarding refunds for the Sunday game(s). All of that can be found on our website at profastpitch.com: Home .

For three days, the Championship Series was an incredible event. Our players, on all four teams, did not disappoint as they displayed their spectacular talents with the passion we are used to seeing from NPF athletes. The outcry of concern for the ending of the Series is a reflection of how dedicated and attached each of you are to professional fastpitch. That speaks well for the NPF. I understand the disappointment of so many, including players, fans, coaches and staff. I assure you we are working on planning that will improve this situation and the outcome in the future. I hope you will join me in looking forward to the 2013 season being bigger and better than ever.

Sincerely,

Cheri Kempf
Commissioner
NPF

Not much of a defense. You are the first person I've talked to that has ever heard Racer advertising. Whatever they are doing isn't working. I don't mean to bust your chops EXPLOSION COACH, but it frustrates me to no end to see the way marketing is handled with the Racers. I go to multiple Racer games a year, and it is a great time. Every seat is good, there is some fantastic action, and there isn't a pro sport anywhere with the access to the fans the NPF provides. I would go to more but if I have no idea when the games are how am I going to go.

the great public officials of Akron did not want the team to go to Joey, sitting in front of a doctor at one of the games, he was talking about the mayor called him and wanted him to take the team and run it. he was a fertility doc out of fairlawn. i wasnt the only person to hear what he said. one part of the problem is the game days, most weekends, girls are involved in TB tournaments so there is little time to attend the games. I do wish they would go to general seating (except for behind home plate) instead of assigned seating.

I believe it is general seating anniball16 (with the exception of behind home plate), but even if it's not, there are so many empty seats you can sit anywhere you want.
