Indoor Tournament Any Spano Dome surprises

Tony ... I wasn't there, but I have to agree with you 100%. Some players might only get up one time in one of these shortened games, and the first pitch goes up into the net and their at bat is over? If the ceiling in there was about 25 feet higher, then I could see it more I guess.

Seems crazy to be able to only bat 9 at an indoor tourney this time of year especially. Was this considered a qualifier or something? On the other hand, don't get me started on indoor tourneys being qualifiers for outdoor tourneys 6 months later, on drop dead, or on deciding games based on runners to any base other than home.

It does sound like there were a lot of good games.

There were and in the scheme of things it was a very positive experience. I just didn't care for the changes. And yes it was an ENQ which really was of no consequence to us and not at all the reason we got in.

I think on straight pop ups it should be an out as they would have been caught outdoors. With that said the ribbon should be brought in a little and also have one towards the right side. I now there is not much behind the infield on right side but saw some that would have been beyond ribbon in LF but going towards RF they were outs. We had 3 that hit top net in RF just a foot before reaching the doubles net. Would have been shots outside but outs indoors

Ahhhh the Spano Dome nets. :) Playing there these past 4-5 years has really taught my girls to hit those line drives. Our butts have been saved as many times as we've been burned by the nets so I can't complain.....it is what it is. Although I do like the 2 hits to the ceiling rule better.
I like the ASA switch but mostly for the older ages. I like to see the younger girls play as much as possible, especially this early in the season.

It's like what Julie said. If you know that you're playing indoors all winter, get your kids ready to be successful given the limitations of the venue. You're going to have ceiling and outfield nets no matter where you play every winter.

If you take that into consideration, it will benefit them and get them ahead of the curve heading into summer. There are lessons to be learned there both offensively and defensively. Figure them out, explain them, devise a strategy, and practice towards those goals.
