Poaching players happens all the time ! happens all the time at the top level ...many great org. do it thats how they can rebuild year after year an stay so strong ...I would be shocked if Thunder just happen to run across two stud kids that were not allready on a teams roster playing some were ? an 1 being a stud pitcher ..... really ok maybe ? were ever them kids came from, may have a diffrent take on how things happen ? my guess ...... not sure why thunder feels called out ? lasers have poached kids for years thats why there allways near the top .....i remember all the hype on here a year or so back when bandits took a bunch of lasers purple kids ..... every one is trying to get better gettting to that next level .....But lasers owes jeff a big im sorry if jeff is right and them kids were just sitting around and looking for a team to play with because they had no team ....

Oilerpride, I have no problem with you picking up and adding players to your team. We added a very good player to the roster, you added 2 very good players to your roster. Read my post did not call your players ringers or suggest you did anything illegal or unethical ; nor did we. Simply pointing out that teams that take on a high level schedules/showcases do this occasionally . As we move forward through the older age groups teams with college minded players get more exposure playing deeper into Sunday. Lets not kid ourselves the Orange and yourself try to recruit the best players available to do this. The Orange has great players you have great players. Meant no disrespect to your team. Shouldn't matter if the players are fulltime, part time, 1 time ,daytime or night time, Its nobody's business. Hope we all can move forward from this , Looking forward to seeing you and your team again. Always an Epic battle. Good Luck this year.

Great Thread - I think ? LOL .. anyway I dont follow the 14u scene and I'm brand shiny new to the 12u circuit but somewhere along the lines I've ended up a tad confused .. Is the team that Ms Fouts played with the Ice Orange or Laser Orange ? maybe my reading comprehension is slipping , anyway someone set me straight. Gonna be a rather busy summer if she plays ASA and NSA for Ohio and still throws for the Bolts . I'm just excited a young lady of her caliber is sprouting up right here in my area . I'm sure I'll catch her on the HS circuit in a couple months . Shes gonna dominate this area . ( yes in Ky you can play HS at 7-8th grade)

This has been some fun reading LOL. I know we had a great time and Chuck and his crew ran a great event. Always good to see the Lasers and Thunder Elite group and had a good chat with the Team Michigan and Ohio Ice guys. Been around for a while and Im telling you the talent at the 2000 age group is as good as Ive seen. Always fun and beneficial to play such great teams. See everyone in the summer.

what is the pitchers name? I would love to see her play. I looked up the Birmingham team and do not see anyone from ohio on any of the their teams rosters.

it is kinda funny how last year i must have read ten posts on how good thunder elite 00 was but that they wouldnt be so dominate w-out montana n yet they had 5 shutouts this weekend. n i believe they were leading lasers 5-4 in the championship until lasers brought in montana n she shut them out the rest of the way. why did they not start montana? were they trying to prove they could beat thunder w-out her? i guess that plan backfired. now that i have had my say i will give lasers orange credit that they are a great team but i would love to see those 2 teams play a best of 3 pay per view event with neither team using montana to see whose better.

The 2 teams are good regardless of who, what, when and where.... My point is who really gives a **** about who wins in February @ an indoor facility? So many elements missing and taken away from the game playing in the Spano. Great place for live swings and pitching, not so much for determining Winning or Losing. Some of you Dads are gonna be lonely in a few years when your "DD" gets to 16u / 18u age level and you won't be able to come on here and "chest thump" anymore.. Well.... I suppose you still can but you will be the only one!

Let's make a deal. If everyone agrees to not make things up and post them here should the kids on our team ever play well together and win a tournament again in the future I won't post "crazy" things anymore. "Crazy" in this case meaning pointing out things that someone either made up on their own or heard from someone else and posted here as the truth. Is that fair?

If you just can't help yourselves and feel that you have to make things up would it be too much to ask that you have a little meeting and come up with a new lie? This whole "Thay lieke were teh bringin in teh ringorzzzzzz!!!!11!!!!!one!1!!!" stuff started last fall. It's old. I'm not the sort of person who makes things up about 13 year old kids so I'm not sure where to tell you to start, I know you can do better than the same old recycled garbage though.

For the third straight year I just spent back to back weekends at Spano. Still like the venue and the competition was great. Two things were different this year and in my opinion not for the better.

1. One in the ceiling = Out. I think it's a terrible rule and definite game changer. Maybe move the ribbon in to the infield closer or have a separate zone where by one is a foul and closer is an out. I understand why they don't play it live in that area and it's a good reason (ACL injuries) but last year the first two were foul and three in the net was an out. That was more reasonable IMO.
2. Switching from NSA to ASA and playing every game straight up ASA. The result of this was losing your EPs and in some cases losing your courtesy runner. We've gone months without playing on dirt, we finally get to travel up there and the games are super short (no new inning after 65 min - 70 min drop dead). This early in the season I don't care for having to bench players and work them in as subs. If you do have 10 and use DP/Flex you have no courtesy runner so if you catcher gets stranded on second base, you are wasting time waiting on her to suit up in an already short game. Same thing if you use a sub and if she's already been entered. Make every other argument ASA vs NSA and I'll agree with you, but not in this case. Or keep it ASA with modified rules. The ceiling net and lost Right Fielder at the older ages are already modifications so why not this?

Would like to see these rules reconsidered next year.

Tony ... I wasn't there, but I have to agree with you 100%. Some players might only get up one time in one of these shortened games, and the first pitch goes up into the net and their at bat is over? If the ceiling in there was about 25 feet higher, then I could see it more I guess.

Seems crazy to be able to only bat 9 at an indoor tourney this time of year especially. Was this considered a qualifier or something? On the other hand, don't get me started on indoor tourneys being qualifiers for outdoor tourneys 6 months later, on drop dead, or on deciding games based on runners to any base other than home.

It does sound like there were a lot of good games.

Understand where this red tape is. I think it's about 10' behind the 2nd-3rd base-path. I may be off by a few feet, but if you drop a plumb-bob from the red tape, it certainly would not be considered inside the base path. And if you hit the red tape on the ceiling with a shot straight to CF, I'm betting that ball would land at least 200' away from home! Now these ceilings are a good 30' in the air. I'm no professor of geometry, but I can tell you that the angle of some of the shots that I witnessed this past weekend, on my team as well as many others...those would have been majestic blasts. Some of Tony's girls hit shots that were recorded outs this weekend but would have cleared the bases outdoors.
The ASA/NSA thing...you are right Tony. Let the kids play. Maybe we go ahead & go with ASA rules with a couple modifications like allow courtesy runners for P's & C's at any time and even allow 2 EP's so all kids can play and bat in the games.
Wait.....didn't we just describe the NSA rules? Hmmmmm.
I've seen many good tourneys (even WSQ's) that allow roster batting in pool play..why not here?
