Anyone catch U of M vs MSU yesterday?

Up 4-0 in the top of the 7th U of M put up 10 runs to win 14-0. 4 of the runs came when a pinch hitter hit a grand slam. It may have been the last 4. I don't know if I've ever witnessed a more overt display of anti-heroism in any sport.

When it comes to sports, I think anti-heroism depends largely on whether you're a fan or not.

Michigan is on a roll. They've won 19 straight and 13 of them shortened by the 8-run rule. TTUN toyed with MSU yesterday like a cat with its prey. They're the Chuck Norris of the B1G.

They should get some competition this weekend against Minn. Sat and Sun games are being televised on BTN.

Hutch tried to call off the dogs. The pinch hitter was a pitcher I believe. She tried to put in pinch hitters that rarely ever play to get that last out but they kept getting on. That Michigan lineup is deadly!! Not a weak spot in it. Hutch even put her head down because she knew it was hard on Michigan State. I think the pitcher was even crying when Jackie J went to the mound. Look for Michigan to go deep in the NCAA's.

As a fan of all things Spartan I have no idea why Mark Hollis keeps Joseph MSU softball stinks.

If MSU didn't quit trying then why should Michigan quit trying?

I have met Coach Joseph many many times. And my DD has been bat girl at MSU.

She does all the right things except win. It is a shame really. D1 sports are an unforgiving beast. I fear the answer may be a change which stinks because she is a good person and mentor. I would have no issues with my daughter going to play there.

BTW I agree that Coach Hutch was trying to pull back the reins. Her team is just very good. They will suffer for playing in the B10. They are not being prepared to play the best teams or see the best pitchers but what can you do? I am wondering what the record is in the B10 for runs scored. Because that team seems like they are on pace to break some record.

TTUN is a contender for it all again this year. Sierra Romero is a monster. She is Bustos/ Bonds/ Ricketts scary with the stick

It was a combination of pulling back the reins and giving those players an AB. Driesenga is a pitcher, however she proved herself to be a capable hitter as a freshman when she also DP'd and hit .340 / slugged .553.

Mich has played a weak schedule within the B1G to date. Despite playing a strong preconference schedule, their RPI is 18. They will play Minn and Wisc, but they don't have a series with Neb or Northwestern. Hopefully the remaining schedule will prepare them for the NCAA tourney.

Looking at the play-by-play, it appears that Michigan stopped sending runners home from second on singles once it got out of hand in the seventh inning. They didn't steal bases, bunt or do anything else other than hitters just going up and having normal at-bats. The one thing that would happen in baseball that I would probably insist my team also do would be that we definitely would not hold a home-plate celebration for a home run that makes it 14-0. I don't know whether Michigan did that or not, and I'm sure it was a big moment for the pinch hitter, but I would want my team showing some class and staying in the dugout and just shaking her hand or high fiving the hitter once she's back in the dugout.
