After getting a forfeit as a result of a late withdrawal by a California team, Buckeye Heat 16U (Abraham) beat the San Diego 3D 2-1 in an incredibly exciting, tight game. Next up tomorrow is the Oregon Slammers.

Think good thoughts for JoeA and the girls. It would be great to send an Ohio team to Seattle through the Shreve tournament and a different team through the regional tournament.

Daryl, tell me again why this tournament in Shreve isn't considered the Ohio ASA State tournament? I swear, I'll never get the ASA byzantine system clear in my wee little brain.

OK, I THINK I have the answer to my own question. ?There is no ASA "State Champion" Tournament because the qualifier at Marion is not just for Ohio teams, but rather for Region 9, which includes West Virginia; by tradition, most of us refer to that as the ASA State, which it really isn't. ?And Shreve is just a tournament that ASA has bequeathed with one "A" Nationals berth, hence all the teams from other states.?

If Daryl ever reappears on the site, he can confirm or correct.
