Any coaches that have been ASA / ACE certified with any input on the process and did you find it helpful to apply to your coaching?

Some tournaments require it. Alot of it is stuff you already know but there is some useful info. I will be getting my third year ace certification. Our organization requires all of our coaches to be ace certified which requires a background check. that ensures that our coaches are in good standing and we weed out the people that shouldnt be coaching it least from a legal standpoint for the safety of the girls!

We have required it before ASA did....awesome for new coaches, good refresher course for us old goats!!!! Great selling point in recruiting. After level one it cost $20 for a background check and a new level of softball fundamentals. Great price for all you get. We even require it for assistants.

I think the ACE training is a positive tool but dont agree it should be a requirement. I have to question why Bollinger Insurance request a background check for coaches and then again required for ACE certification.

Heads up for coaches at level 1 - you need to use the same login as previous year or they'll start you at level 1 again.

Probably because not all coaches get ACE certification. They should have a way to avoid the duplicate efforts though.

Waste of time and money in my opinion. Played a full ASA "A" schedule and never been checked. Not once. Maybe a good course for newbies but that's all.

Guys,

If you are at Nation WS qualifier you need to submit a form that outlines that your coaches are indeed properly certified. I am talking about an ASA/USA Regional qualifier....not a Eastern or Northern qualifier.

No one checks for the ACE ID at the tournament. But they do check you in with an ID.

We were checked for ACE Certification at ASA/USA-A and at the Eastern A last year, background check ID's as well. Valley Extreme asked for it last year as well.

For a first time coach, ACE isn't too bad if you actually listened to it. I think all beginner coaches could actually get something from all of the videos but since they can be found on youtube and it appears to be money grab the process won't ever get a fair shake.
