ASA ACE Certification Site

Does anyone have any insight as to what is going on with their web site?

Our coaches have tried for over a month to get their 2010 ACE cert level II and either they can't get logged on, the test does not come up, etc, etc.

We have coaches that have submitted multiple 'trouble tickets' - NONE of which are ever answered.

ASA needs to take this money maker for them and get it working once and for all. We still can not register / sanction in our region as of 2 weeks ago.

Before anyone tells me how hard it is to 'do' a web site, save it. I have been on teams that have developed much larger and more complex sites than ASA's .. it really is not that hard - and certainly rule number one is 'If you have a helpdesk/trouble ticket link - you should make sure to answer it -otherwise take it off your web site.

If anyone has any idea when it will be working or how we can get help please let me know.

Are you sure you have the right Sanction Numbers and IDs from Warren Jones? I think that was an issue earlier this year. But I've seen some postings recently that people were able to get on and complete the course. Maybe one of them can let you know specifically what needs to happen to make it work.

That's whats interesting... a few were able to do so... one has a JO Commish role - he was able to.. seems like 'coaches' roles are the ones messed up. I hate to dump this on Warren's lap, surely there is a contact within ASA responsible for the web site...

Doug, I didn't have any problems registering and completing my ACE II certification. However, I do agree with you that the response to tickets is not effective.

I noticed that my registration with ASA is correct on date of birth, however on the ACE it is showing month as my day of birth and the date of birth as my month of birth. . .received my ACE cards and the again show my date of birth incorrectly. . .submitted a ticket in regards to this and have yet to receive any feedback in regards to issue. Searched all over the ACE site for a way to correct my DOB on there, however couldn't discover any way to correct. . .

I passed level one a few months ago, I paid to try and take level two about a month ago and the site has not allowed me to even take the test. I am very unimpressed with the entire setup.

Part of the problem looks to be that they have done imports into the new system from several other systems - creating 'dummy' accounts in the process... that is always a prescription for a mess. My 'id' is now - DougLenos1AB8F98 - how the heck am I supposed to remember this? I'm looking for how to change it but don't see anywhere that I can.

A quick look at their FAQ tells you what a mess they have .. it tells you all over to just email ace@softball.org if you have problems .. yet they never return the email.

Just got a call from Rob our ASA rep - Warren told him it will be another week or two - and it will be brought up at the State meeting this weekend.. if it's any consolation they are having trouble getting logged on as well... it's those dang I.T. guys!

I appreciated the quick call from Rob ... thanks much.

I posted this on the last thread, but it was directly followed by three posts from other people who got their level 2 with no problem.

However, I spoke to Warren and in his words, there is a known problem with the site and they were a couple weeks from resolution. He told me he's trying to get a certification for his own self and had the same problem. For the time being I'm not going to worry about it.

Maybe during March Madness they'll have it working and I can multi-task it with a cold six pack.

Danger:

There is a whole separate thread trying to answer your question. I am under the following beliefs based on that thread: For national qualifiers the Head Coach must be ACE certified. To play IN an ASA Nationals the Head Coach must be ACE certified and all the bench coaches must have received a satisfactory background check. It could also be that to play IN an ASA Nationals the bench coaches also need to be ACE certified (that is certainly the suggestion on the ASA Eastern Nationals web site), but that wasn't how I read the other thread. A simple search should get you to that thread.

They will check your ACE certification at Eastern Nationals, and you are correct that at least one coach in the dugout must hold the ACE certification. I don't recall them verifing that backgrounds had been preformed for all coaches.

Personally, I heard One (1) coach must hold it... but if he gets kicked out of a game... somebody else better be holding one...LOL

We are now all ACE and background checked, but each one of us had one or more issues during the process. Not the smoothest process I've been through.

Anyone know when the ASA player registration will be active for Ohio?

They say the "Head coach" or at least 1 coach in the dugout, but none of our coaches were asked for it last year, nor were we told by our asa commish to verify anyone having this at any of our qualifiers.

Money racket comes to mind.

I'd almost bet from the Eastern National event itself and on up.... teams will probally be asked.

It's a just a matter of time before it gets to the qualifer events. Probally this year after they work the bugs out.
