No EP in ASA, just a DP/FLEX. A TD may decide to make it available, but it is not allowed in normal ASA tourneys.

As Lady Knights stated there is no EP, DH, or any other type of player added to the lineup in ASA Fastpitch Softball, exept the DP/Flex option. ASA changed it several years ago to the DP/Flex and in my opinion if used correctly it is a much better rule change and gives the coach more flexibility. ?

Also as Lady Knights said, in many tournaments the director modifes the rules to suit themselves or the tournament, but if they go strickly by the ASA Rule Book their is no EP, in fast pitch softball.

It is no wonder that it is so confusing with all the TD's rule changes. ?This year alone, I have seen, the pitching distance changed, the EP's added, metal cleats allowed, and many more rule changes that are strickly against the ASA Rule Book. ?I would love to see ASA step in and make all sanctioned ASA tournaments, go strickly by the book. ?To make matters worse every tournament that I have seen where the ASA Rules were thrown out the window was an ASA qualifying tournament.

Back to your question on EP, I hate to state the world slow but I believe in slow pitch the ASA Rules do allow an EP. ?So this could also be a bit confusing if Mom or Dad plays slow pitch and dd plays J O fast pitch. ?

Hope this helps. ?

Yes, ASA slow pitch does allow one EP (but no DP/FLEX). Co-Ed allows two (one guy, one girl). Senior divisions (over 50) allow either one or two, or the option of batting the entire roster.

It does get tricky keeping all the rule differences straight!
