Statman,
It sure sounds like you are insulting softball players.... am I mis-understanding this?? Are you calling little softball girls sheep????
Please, call me a shepherd or SOB or anything, but leave the girls out of it.

I'm with you ultraclas, I think that if the individual wants to wear armour then so be it (especially in the younger ages)but please don't make it mandatory,My DD hasn't decided yet if and when she'll remove her shield in college for batting.
Leave it to the player/parents !

ccteacher: Read the ASA web site on bats. For what you spend on bats I would be careful on what you purchase. They are testing them and banning them left and right. Look at the list. Read some of the bat posts on this site. Try to pick a bat that passed in 2007, not 2004. You can get a great deal on some of the older bats that are good. What the better hitting coaches are telling us. Spend the money on hitting lessons and you will find out that the bat means little if your swing is not correct. I know of some girls that could take a wooden bat and put it over the fence. Others you could put a RT ( end loaded bat) , and they would get lucky once in a while. That is why coaches do not buy end loaded bats in high school. Only players that have good swings can use them effectively and they own one. .

lol, statman---I don't think you have hurt any girls' feelings. ;) ?

Most of the ones I have met would be well-able to defend themselves if they were offended, (and I hope this doesn't hurt your feelings) and are sharp enough to carve you up like they were a set of Ginsu knives. ?;D
