The 2012 Laser Nation By Invitation College Showcase will be June 15,16 and 17

This could be interesting to see who will go here and who will go to the Region 9 tournaments in Groveport and Toledo.

Nearly every event is north of Columbus, which has been the trend over the years. Has anyone from the southern part Ohio applied for these tourneys???

No Region 9 for 16U this year?

Wasn't the qualifier held in Toledo last summer the Region 9?

Might be that the bid/selection process has not yet been completed for that tournament.

Two years I bidded along with the Clermont County Convention and Visitors Bureau for every tournament listed in the bidding packet.

Every single one and won nothing .. except they tried to appease us here in Southern Ohio with a Fall Hall of Fame event... which needed to be played in the middle of the state in the first place.... because of Fall volleyball at 14u and 16u.

I see Gabe gave up on the 10u and 12u up near Toledo.... and southern Ohio got the event through it's District Commish. Now mind you, this is the same guy who had no idea fastpitch events was going on his own district for three years... :lmao:

Valley Storm will apply to put on a 2013 ASA/USA tourney. Most likely mid June 2013.

Kyle Park Softball Complex

One of the best softball complexes in Ohio. 12 crushed brick fields, real restrooms, walking/jogging trails, fishing lake, skateboard park, batting cages, golf driving range, etc.

And don't forget about the Cincy Metro, supposed to have more notice than last year according to commish.

Working on details and dates, should know more in a month or two. Hopefully we can avoid bumping heads on the dates.

Yes...but the Dayton and Cincy tourneys are specific to that region and are seperate from Ohio ASA....just like Cleveland has their own metro. I couldn't bring a team from my area up here north of Columbus, and take a berth from your Dayton metro or Cincy metro??

Dayton opened up it's Metro to everyone.

Now, Cincy was back and forth last year about opening it up. Have no idea what they done in the end.

Oquakerman are you saying stay away from 10u in Hamilton. Or give this guy a chance.

Findlay will have games on Thursday for 16u again IF the number of entries warrants doing so.

Doom has never applied to hold a Region 9 qualifier. We helped sponsor the 12U Cincy Metro along with Patty a few years back, but that was it.

Yes, give him a chance. He's a men's softball guy. Nothing like having the tournament in our backyard. That is what the SW Ohio teams wanted. You should be calling every 10u coach up and emailing them and getting them to commit to the event in my mind.

Been slow age divisions in the past up in NW Ohio...

I say load it up to the maximum... and then that gives him the opportunity come January to bid on it again...

Need to get in it and committed ... as well as everybody else ... before Christmas. It shows it is wanted in SW Ohio and gives him the opportunity on that commitment.. that it would be good to bid this January for the 2013 event as well.

It's all a bidding process. supposely ;&.. but it ain't. They can say that all they want.. but it ain't. You can't take two different types of bids and call it fair. One bid based on "cash bid" and then another based on "cash amount per team".

It is a board decision in the end... Hamilton is nice fields, drain really well, has lights. Good location for the board to consider actually.

Being a 10u coach.. I would hope you would support it to the max... as well as the others in SW Ohio. I don't care if you won a ballgame all year... you should be there. Afterall, you still have another two years for 12u to be there in the years down the road.

I just think the bidding process is unfair.. you can bid all you want to.. whatever the amount.. but a board still has to approve the location.

It's a "good ole boys" club up North. The monopoly is amazing actually. They actually passed out the state events for the first time in a long time.. to orgs to get them to switch over to ASA. Example: Valley Extreme from NSA to ASA is a good example.

So, call everyone you know. Get them to commit early to the event.

I hope you win it Rob. 14u or 16u age group. Look at the battleground area. Indianapolis, Columbus, Ft Wayne, Cincinnati, Dayton, Toldeo, Cleveland, Lexington and Louisville. Probally a couple Pittsburgh teams.

How many of those fields got lights, Rob?

Work with the Convention and Visitors Bureau to help offset some of the costs and help in bidding MORE...LOL.. than anyone else.

I'd love to see a ASA/USA event at Kyle Park. Great place for some ball.

You got to get them to do something about those outfields, though. The grass is very patchy. That ground is so compacted; it could really use some aeration to help the grass fill in.
