base hit/E5 video

Yes...while the atec never asks for age or ability, it does use terms such as ordinary, routine and extraordinary. My opinion would be that a high level player should make this play, but expecting every player to make it is unreasonable. How ever it was scored should be acceptable. Many plays are marginal and the sole discretion of the scorer.

Maybe not foul, hard to see if it hit the line! Most coaches would call it a hit for both the batter and the fielder and helping both players cause. Hard to charge an error as she went to the ground for it and knocked it down. An error is supposed to be basically booting a ball under ordinary effort! Plus, most likely would not have made the throw in time from the knees! Easy to award a hit as it was a nicely placed ball!

It would depend on who it was for our coach and what his agenda was on padding stats!!!! Yes, I said it!

Looked foul to me but I don't have the angle the umpire does. If he did call it fair, that ball should be scored a hit.

I agree With Hillarddad3... its a HIT ... Would require extra ordinary effort to make the play .... Even after knocking it down, she would have to come up and throw a seed to get her out ... JMO Good luck!!

Don't leave us all hanging....was it a hit or an error....and was your DD the hitter or fielder???

Just curious what would make you think this might be an error. If you have a copy of the ATEC manual, check it out. It's a hard hit ball and definitely not ordinary effort on the part of the fielder. Hit.

Since it was asked, I am the fielders Dad and the scorekeeper. I gave her an error at the time because she knocked it down and I tend to be a little harder on her. After reviewing my video I wasn't sure I was right and that is why I asked you guys. Looks like at the next game I will be going back and erasing the E5 and changing it to a hit. Thanks everyone for your input.

That's fine, but just remember that her stats aren't the only ones that are affected. Pitcher's ERA and WHIP aren't accurate and if you are the official scorer then the batter doesn't get credited for a hit she deserves. Just treat everyone the same regardless of whether they are on your team or not or whether you are related to them or not.

IF she touched it I am still scoring that a base hit. If she didn't touch it is a foul ball.
