Mason Thunder 99 enjoyed the tournament. We won four games, had college coaches out on field 23 and field 15 and the weather was awesome. Our girls emailed coaches. We played well in 4 games and not so well in 2 games. We''ll be back next year. Thanks Warren!

Jim, Crystle is correct. my dd's been emailing college coaches now for about 2 years now. But emails by a DD is not going to cut it. There's also contact need to be made by DD's coach. We were in the Boonies as well for a couple games and yes a coach did appear at our game. DD wasn't pitching, but he did come out there to watch. Who he came to watch, I don't know. But I will say this, if you write it, they will come :D

Brownsfan, I understand, you said a coach showed up, how many were in the center of the complex, while that one was out watching that game.

tons...

You need to put out some effort.... coaches dont randomly go shopping at tournaments, you could have been in the middle and still not been seen except by coaches watching the team you were playing. if you had done some recruiting footwork like crystlmc said, maybe they would have shown up.

Welcome to the showcase process Jim. As many stated this is the way of showcase life...that's what you have to do like it or not. I understand how you feel but don't be offended by it, it's not personal.

Should the TD of the showcase have something in place to ensure proper exposure... isn't a portion of the blame on the TD?

No. The TD provided the venue, it's up to the parents, players, and coaches to maximize the opportunity.

Sure. Networking. With all that's necessary from the org., parents, and players that TD sets their showcase above the rest by maximizing the placement of teams and the flow of traffic to promote visibility. Bigger better connected orgs gain

It doesn't matter where you play. If the coach knows you're there and is interested in you, they will find you. You can be in front of them and they may miss you because they are busy watching the kid who contacted them. They are not going to knock on your door. You need to beat on theirs. Most teams spend tons of money and interest on teamwear every year but they do not put a little effort into making up team bio forms. A little computer work would do it. And a coach knowing your team, playing dates and locations and your uniform number and a few good facts about you is a heck of a lot more important than teamwear. Knowing a kid is interested in your school and having an informational bio will get a coach crawling through wet grass to see you. Jmho.

As others said its up to the players, coaches, parents to be contacting coaches. If your daughter played on the moon and they wanted to see her, they would get a way there. On Sunday there was 5 colleges at field 23 in the back forty, and they were there because the girls on the 2 teams playing had contacted the coaches up front.

Sorry to sound political...but it sounds like the entitlement society is starting to filter it's way to softball. DD is working her butt off with trying to reach out to coaches. That's how it should be. I'm not doing a thing either except provide transportation and that's how it should be. Is it stressful, YES! It's up to the coaches and these girls to get the college coaches to see these girls play. not up to the parents, TD's, and whoever else you want to cast blame on.

well thanks everyone, I've had people who were not there, people who spent the whole weekend in the prime locations, and people who had 5 out of 6 in prime locations, tell me that locations don't matter. My original b*tch was about being banished to the outskirts for all games. how about the next time you buy a browns ticket, just stand outside the stadium for the game, then have everyone that was inside tell you that it didn't matter even though you paid the same for the ticket that they did.

Why would I buy a Browns ticket when the Steelers are 2 hours down the road? ;)

OP seems to not get it, even though a lot of good feedback has been offered by people who clearly know a lot more about the topic than him/her. Best attended game for coaches I saw all fall, not just at Berliner, all fall which include Stingrays, Outlaws Fall Brawl, and Best of the Best, was on what you would call a non-premium field location. Coaches were there because kids had done the contact work, and multiple kids in the 2015 and 2016 class have gotten offers and/or invites to visit based on that game. Either take the feedback and advice that has been offered, chalk it up to experience and move on, or keep complaining and see how that goes for you. Best of luck either way.

I have talked to many college coaches and many girls who have signed.

Unless you contact the coaches first they will likely not come looking.

This is 90% of the work. The venue and where you play are 10%. So you got screwed by 10%. But you failed the other 90%. While I agree the system is not how basketball and football are done it is how softball operates. So you can either work the system or not. But you might as well stop complaining about it.

Jim... and I won't call you stupid, the point that everybody eventually discovers is that you shouldn't wait to be "discovered". It ain't gonna happen. A player has to let college coaches know that they would like to be seen. Even if you're spending the day at Berliner inhaling sewage treatment fumes at the back fields, if they're interested, they will find you.

I understand, once again my b*tch was about field locations and rotations through the fields, I paid for the Hilton but got super 8. I understand that my daughter didn't contact enough coaches, ( I will beat her with my golf clubs when I get home), I am not new to this daughter has been playing for 8 years. What I was trying to point out was that some teams spent the weekend in the center where all the buzz was, and some were out deer country (yes the came through left field during a game) And that discovery stuff is pretty deep, I will have to think about it for a while, I think you might have tried to hurt my feelings.
