Just to copy off the pitcher's tread, who's the best hitters in OHIO h.s. softball?

I have to throw out the Boulder, Brittany Duncan at Fairborn h.s. the most feared hitter in the GWOC and one of the best in the state. A true power hitter heading to Div 1 Valaparaiso this fall.

Who else fits the bill?

Talking HR and RBI's... back this year in the GMC are Sara Pearson, senior from Lakota East and Kelly Browning, junior from Fairfield. They were the top two in GMC last year and ran neck and neck with each other all year in 2010.

I've heard reports that a girl from Ironton hit 12 dingers last season --while not impossible I'd think that 12 would be among the state leaders. Thats homering at a greater rate than Albert Puljos . Her name is Elswick. Going to Shawnee St on a hoops ride. MD

Taylor Thomas Clear Fork High School. SR and was player of the year in the OCC. Power hitter. Going to be many HR in the OCC this year. As a team they had 24 last year with almost all the HR hitters back now at 43 feet!

I agree, Sara Pearson is a great dual threat, not only as a pitcher but also as a hitter!!! She is a game changer. Let me throw one other name out there and that is Nicolette Hayes, Loveland HS. Not only can she bunt, hit to all fields, and hit in the clutch, but she is a wizard with the glove and has a gun for an arm.

IMHO, the 2 best (& most feared) hitters for 2011 come from the GGCL this year (without seeing every young lady in the state):
1) Maria Leichty - Ursuline Academy (signed with Butler)
2) Erika Leonard - Mercy (signed with Florida State)
I know there are many, many outstanding hitters throughout Ohio but these 2 are exceptional (like I'm sure others are).

First of all shame on any parent who would throw his own kids name on here. Regardless of how good your kid is, let someone else be the one who sings their praises, we all know that every parent on the OFC loves their player. Don't you ever get tired of the self promotion?

As far as i can tell, i cant see any parent on this thread touting thier own kid.....:rolleyes:

Dont read so much into posts, god knows we dont do that to yours.

@Hitter23

Started to post the same thoughts about Funkymonkey's "shame, shame, shame". He or she must know something the rest of us don't about the prior posts. Anyway, for me, as long as the poster acknowledges that he or she is talking about a DD, I don't have a problem with them posting. The acknowledgment comes with a few grains of salt that the DD will have to dispel. But that's perfectly fine and nobody is hurt by the name getting out there.

Some teams play weak schedules and to be honest with you hitting bombs off pitchers who should be at the JV level means nothing.

Hitting has always been critiqued in this fashion. Normally it is done by Pitchers Dads. Every HS has games where stats are padded against weak hitters ( by pitchers ) or against weak pitchers ( by hitters ). Not every team plays a top team every game. It just dosent work into the scheduling. Not every school can afford to go to Fla, or SC to spend a week in the beginning.

Alot of this could be put aside if the GWOC would do what the GMC vs FAVC has done. Maybe a pre season GWOC tourny to replace scrimmages (and yes these could still be called scrimmages to appease the OSHAA Gestapo ) . get the teams ready for the up coming season and the playoffs beyond. Then put all these Hitters and pitchers in the spot light and let the cream rise. Then all the heresy and opinions spewed by some would be just that.

Not my kid i talked about thats for sure. But i will say i have seen, and hear most coaches talking about how their team has the hardest time hitting the really slow pitchers, or weak pitchers. I have never heard a coach talk about how their team can not hit the strong pitchers or the great pitchers on any type of regular basis.

@FunkyMonkey

Do you seriously see a parent posting on behalf of the DD on this thread?

We faced a girl last year who plays for Reynoldsburg HS. I believe her name is Tiffany. I think she's a Junior this year. At any rate, this girl hits like a beast...the homerun she hit should have been on ESPN just for it's hang time! Unreal.
